hard swollen tummy after

By natunee on 09 Aug 2011

I had a full tummy tuck on July 8/11.  Things went great according to my ps.  I am just concerned about my belly now.  Above my incision and below my belly button my belly is rock hard and swollen. More on my right side, looks like a ball under the skin.   I was told that it will go away but I cannot put pants on or nothing because it is so big.  Any thoughts from anyone who might know why or what to do?

Here is a link where you will find information from our doctors on the site on lumps after a tummy tuck,

And one more that may be helpful.

On a side note I had the same thing for a while and found massage helped that area.

Awh sorry to hear ur discomforts. I know we have all gone into this thinking we gonna go in & come out flat & ready to bounce back into the world. But the healing time gives us ups & downs & deforms us until we are healed. Keep up with ur ps on this & I see kimmers provided useful info too. Hang in there - it gets worse before better - that's just healing. Your tummy will look beautiful in no time.

My TT was the same day as yours and I have the same exact thing and everybody says is normal and will go away, so I'm just hopping so. Hang in there, we will be beautifull when all this pass.

I am having the very same issue. I called the Dr.s office today because it literally looks and feels like I swallowed a volleyball. It's hard to the touch. Painful? I wouldn't say PAINFUL... it makes it more difficult to sit down and it feels like more pressure in the area when walking. I can't wear pants either. I see the Dr in the morning and hopefully have good news to report back to you.

I went to the Dr and it was a seroma (in my case) Which apparently is more common in patients who have a TT after significant weight loss, not just routine TT. My Dr chose to drain it and then inject with sclerosing agents (which apparently isnt FDA approved) and I would NEVER have done again. Draining, yes, most definately, the sclerosing agent injections... heck no, never again!
