People grind their teeth during stressful situations but they generally do it unconsciously. When excessive grinding occurs it damages your teeth and wears away the surface. This might cause dental sensitivity, particularly to contact with cold.

Many people clench and grind their teeth at some stage in their lives which can lead permanent damage to the teeth. Both children and adults can experience bruxism. It may occur during the day or night. It is caused by several factors including stress, certain medications, certain illegal drugs, and some medical conditions. It is still advisable to contact your dentist to prevent the condition from becoming worse.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. Have you been to a dentist to see if there is a problem with your bite that could be causing you to clench & grind your teeth? If your bite is fine, then perhaps its high stress?
