Going to Dr. Walkires Robles in Dominican Republic - September 2

By Tjcnyc on 07 Aug 2012

Hello All,   I am new to posting but have been reading all of the posts and it has been very encouraging to me in deciding to move forward.   I will be having a tummy tuck, a breast lift and lipo of the waist with Dr. Walkires Robles in the Dominican Republic. Total cost including the recovery house is 5,500.   I will be in DR from September 2-September 12.   A big reason in choosing Dr. Robles is communication. Being able to contact her assistant means a lot and communicating in English is excellent and is a stress reliever. She has good reviews and actually told me no when I wanted to do too much at one time.   I will try to log in from DR to blog about my experience.    Any advice in preparing for the trip?   Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi All, I know its been a while since my surgery and it was definitely an experience. I think I was a bit naive and I underestimated the pain after having the surgery. Having all of that done at one time is a big deal. I was in serious pain and while there I had trouble keeping the food down. I dont think I realized how much of a food snob I had become. I didnt eat much while there and Virginia (Super Nice) was worried. I stayed 10 days and ended up having to leave with the drain. That was a major issue because finding a doctor who even would touch me was an issue back in NYC. I ended up flying back in first class because I couldnt see myself sitting for 3 hours in Coach and swollen and in pain. Dr. Robles and her assistant Raquel were very nice. Dr. Robles is very tall and beautiful. Her English is not so good but she works on it, and Raquel speaks English very well. Dr. Robles suggested I have a breast reduction and lift. My breasts came out very nice. Some areas around my nipples wouldnt close, but after continuing to apply the treatments back in NYC, they finally did. The tummy tuck scar is low and long, but the scar is thin. I actively apply scar healing cream every nite. I had some issues with my belly button and it is smaller than it was before. After arriving back in NYC, I was ill and I had to go to the ER. From the ER I was referred to a local surgeon, who removed the drain. He said I was very lucky and he said overall she did a very good job. He said he had seen some awful cases where people were butchered. I had a few more followup visits with him, which I was thankful for. It was helpful, to have a doctor here to look and check on my progress. Before I left, Dr. Robles referred me to Angela of Angel's Day Spa. They are located in Washington Heights. Angela is a doctor in DR and she has a massage spa here. I signed up for her post surgery spa package and it is great. I wasnt able to have the massage over in DR and while it is more here it is very worth it. All of the ladies are from the DR and they specialize in post surgery therapy. Angela was great, because after I took out the drain, water was in my stomach and Angela removed for me twice. There was a charge but well worth it. Overall I am happy with my results but keep in mind surgery is not a quick fix. YOU WILL BE IN PAIN. RECOVERY IS DIFFICULT. SOMETIMES YOU WILL WISH YOU DIDNT HAVE THE SURGERY. IT WILL GET BETTER.

Hi TJ, I'm glad to hear that ur remaining positive as continue recovering. Hey I go to dr Angela as well for the massages but I keep on getting fluid in my tummy so far she has aspirated it twice and I may need it one more time. Can I ask , after she did that twice to u did u stop getting fluid? The massages for me hurt , do I feel the same when u get the massages?

The massages sometimes can be painful, but they definitely help with shaping and I feel better after them. Angela did it twice for me too when I first started going. It went away for a while, but recently I feel like it is back. I have stopped wearing the garment full time too, so maybe its a mental thing. When I go tomorrow I will check. I go on Saturdays at 12:00pm. When do you go?

Hi tj, I'm suppose to b going twice a week every week but girl that's just too expensive for me, so I go every other week on Wednesday. Hey can I ask, did u get a bad itch on your entire back cuz I have it and at times it becomes so intense that I take benedryl to help it. If u did, do u still get itches? Also last week I went n she had to aspirate the fluid from my stomach for the second time and it was a lot. She said that I may need another aspiration. Is your fluid coming back? Cuz it hurts so freaking bad when she does that cuz my stomach is not numb so I feel everything , it hurts so bad that I'm steaming n crying my ass off thru the process.

hi , newme35 , how are you doing ? pls can you tell me the price of the ticket if you bought your already and where you got it from . i will be there dec. 3rd so iwant to buy my ticket now. thankx

Afrakss, I actually bought my ticket in advance so I may also b able to find something affordable but just keep in mind that flights tend to b cheaper in December as they are considered black out dates. But u never know. Believe it or not my ticket originally cost 398.00 but because I had points that I never knew of on my credit card that I ended up paying 149.00. Plus I decided to take a late flight on delta that leaves at 11:30 pm and I arrive at 2:30am. So I will go straight to the hospital and be one of the first ones for surgery. Try delta cuz they tend to be cheaper that JetBlue. JetBlue is a little more cuz it's roomy seats tv and meal.
