Gelzone silicone compression garment?

By Cat80 on 04 Apr 2011

I heard about this on another site has anyone used this? Of course I will ask my PS what he thinks about this but wanted to know if anyone else has used it and if it's worth it.

I am also wondering about the gelzone as well. I have only seen or heard it used by Becky on YouTube, but I'm curious to know if it helps.
I asked my PS nurse if I should consider any silicone scar therapy, and she said that nothing should be put over the incision until my 6 week post-op check-up.
Let me know what you find out.

I haven't heard of the gel zone compression garment, but I have been using silicone scar strips that I ordered from online. My ps gave me the okay at 3 weeks post op. I will be 8 weeks post op on friday and I've noticed a huge difference. I love the strips and I will continue using them for at least another month or two.

I ordered it online should be getting it soon but I wont be able to use it till about 2-3 weeks post op.
It looks pretty sleek and I like that because its silicone it sticks to your skin so you wont have any of the shifting going on plus you'll get the benefit of scar therapy I will let you ladies know when I receive.

I received the garment ladies!

It is so soft and sleek especially the silicone part I cannot wait till I'm given the ok to wear.

Already?! ...nice! Glad to hear that it is sleek; I was wondering how bulky it is.

I also ordered it online today. Was a pain in the a** to find a company that would ship to Canada. I paid $98usd and may still end up owing customs.

Sure hope it helps!

I can't find any place that will ship here to Alberta. What site did you find that would ship here?? Would you say it was worth it?

Thanks

It is super soft stretchy and I cannot wait to feel the coolness of the silicone on my tummy..

It is long though.. 48 inches but you can also cut it. You should be able to wear it J-taylor you are about 2 weeks post op no?
j-taylor 25 Apr 2011
Oh good! I'm 3 weeks post-op, today... boy how time flies when you're having fun LOL. My PS said nothing to be used until the incision is completely healed 'over', and the nurse said we will discuss at 6 wks. Either way, I wdon't antcipate getting mine for at least a couple weeks.

I think that I read that the wrap is intended for 24/7 use. Does it indicate that? Do you think it would be conservative under clothes?

I guess you can use the 'excess' wrap on other scars.

Where did you purchase the gel zone compression garment? Hoe much did it cost?
Kristina Columbia Mo 6 May 2011
I found it almost $30 cheaper on Amazon then the Contour website. It said it wouldn't ship for two months but it shipped the next week.

I received my Gelzone today! You're right Cat, it does look sleek!

I bought mine online from Contour MD because Amazon wouldn't ship to Canada :( ...customs was another $35cdn.

Yes they do advise for you to wear the wrap 24/7 for about 6 weeks I believe not sure.. BUT if you cannot wear it 24/7 then at least 12 hours a day. I think it will hide well under clothes I was thinking about putting it under my girdle since I am planning on wearing mine for a few months.
Kristina Columbia Mo 2 May 2011
I have been wearing it for a week now and it's okay but is very hot and sweaty if I wear it at night when I sleep or outside in hot sun. Not sure I like it but if I decide I'm going to cut it to strips to use under my Spanx and I think it will stay better then the silicone strips that I have been wearing.
Webdva 2 May 2011
I've been using for I'd guess almost 2 months. I've not used the silicone strips to have something to compare it to. I cut mine in half so that I have two and one can be drying while I wear one. I just ordered a new one and wanted to give it a try W/O cutting first and found that because I have annoying discomfort/some swelling in my hips etc that wearing it at night covers a greater area and is actually soothing. my opinion is that I notice a difference the next morning. I do agree, given its May, it does easily get to sweaty to wear the full width during the day so I stick to the smaller ones I cut during the day and the full at night....

Thx Kristina and Webdva :)

That is something to consider since its getting warm here.
