Galvanic spa treatment worth it?

By Lizzy on 26 Jul 2007

I found a new gadget called the Galvanic Spa. Read that Galvanic current is what Sophia Loren has been using for years. Is galvanic spa worth it?

I purchased one of these devices with the AgeLoc gel and cleansers...blah, blah, blah...in short...it doesn't do what the company claims. Sorry, but it doesn't work. I am an esthetician and I've use galvanic current in practice, this device will not get rid of wrinkles. I've had Fraxel treatments and some IPL treatments and frankly those have worked. Don't waste your money on this device, save your money and invest in a laser treatment regime that will actually work.

As I just wrote, I just purchased one and I can see results from one treatment. Howdy Doody lines are softer and less red in my face. After the first demo, I could feel a total difference on both sides of my face. It works with some clear gels (doesn't say parafin) with a positive/negative charge so I don't think it is suppose to work with other products but it helps other products you apply afterwards work better. If it does what I saw in the pictures, I think it is totally worth the cost. I will try to post some pictures here.

I agree. I had one of these sent from the States to the UK, but I feel its a waste of money and time. The hype is that its a wonder therapy and will work, but having tried it, I feel like reclaiming my money. It reminds me of the fairy story 'The Emperor's New Clothes'. Well, I'm being honest and say 'don't waste your money on this item!'

Read all the comments here including mine but take everything with a certain grain of salt. I didn't have anything bad happen but only used it two months over a year ago and I thought I got good results but just couldn't afford to continue at the time. I think there are trolls here who would like to steer people away if the results are as dramatic as some pictures i've seen and I'm going to start doing it again now that I have clear instructions. obviously this could put other's out of business so just keep reading and try to talk to someone who posts a before/after picture. I wish I knew what famous peole use it like Cher and Sophia Loren as it looks like they've done something like that beyond just a facelift/laser, etc.

Wow - well, I'm not sure if you gave it any time; however, I have personally witnessed such dramatice effects on my face (and a friend's - we're both men, with even tougher skin by the way). I am fully behind this product line. You can always go to a spa for the treatment you suggest (and spend thousands more I'd bet *wink*)....or, you can simply do it yourself at home. I also find that it works with other skin products due to it's ability to inject the products deeper into the cell which is the whole point. OR, I suppose people could continue to visit the aesthitician, who then can recommend toxic botox and take a commission from the Dr. or nurse they pay every three months per person or so in order to maintain the effect. Sorry, but this product works. You have to see it to believe it - and I'd say give it at least a week of a minimum of two treatments using the correct settings.

Galvanic current is frequently used during professional facial treatments to penetrate serums and stimulate circulation. Galvanic current does have some definite benefits. I have not looked too closely at this particular product, but I would like to add that during a professional treatment we have the client hold an electrode to guard against shock. A good quality galvanic unit is quite costly. Depending on the state you live in, a professional unit may be classified as a medical device and it's use regulated; so I suspect it is unlikely this is a powerful unit if it's available to the general public. As I said, I have no personal experience with this machine, but I have seen plenty of them for sale on Craigslist......with a heavy emphasis on "independent distributor" and "business" opportunities. I hate to sound so skeptical. In theory it could help. If it's working for you, great! Sounds like it takes alot of time, though. Ten minutes, twice a day, every day is a little longer than I want to spend rolling an electrode across my face....I have problem skin, so my routine is long enough as it is.

It is a commitment of time that's for sure but really not that much...two minutes each side of face and then another 3 min...who doesn't have time to do this while listening to TV or whatever...People are too lazy...they want to be beautiful and think there is some magic potion they don't have to make any effort. Also, for me. my skin is good because I eat a very nutrient rich diet. That is key for anything.

Actually it is 10 minutes twice a week. You can comfortably up it to 3 times a week. I have had tremendous success with the galvanic spa after 3 months of use. Way better results than juvederm!!

It is recommended to use the Galvanic Spa twice a WEEK (not a day)for 10 minutes but I have to say it is a bit addicting as you do see results and they are cummulative so once you start you feel the need to do more. The Galvanic Spa does have the ability to work on cellulite as well. Results are different for each individual but again it is cummulative so that is why you might find yourself using it more than twice a week. Let me know if you have any questions. Janet

I think these people poo pooing this product are the ones who have a lot to lose. I have never seen anything work so quickly. I recently spent $100 on some laser to remove tiny rosea and veins and it barely did anything. Then I paid #125 for a vitalize peel that barely did anything I couldn't get from using Retin A. For a little over $400 for the gadget and two month supply of gel, I have already got more than I expected in one treatment. If it eliminates marionette and improves early stage turkey neck, won't have to get a facelift. I have just started using some Obagi products along with this.

My friend has one of these and I tried it. Well Wow! It took away weird under skin like pimples I had that I couldn't get rid of for years - in one treatment...also my wrinkles did look much less - even to th point I didn't go get BOTOX. My only problem is the gel you put on your face from nuskin has paraben and other chemicals that noone should be putting on their face anymore it's so bad hormonally for your body. I used plain old olive oil on my face with it and its working beautiful - and all natural. I would highly reccomend this device I'm going to up the 350 for it because I want one of my own!

I've been thinking of trying/buying one of these. Don't want any invasive procedure including the in and out lifestyle lift! I was wondering if other products could be used with the spa as I've heard paraben is not good! I have heard of a great new French product that is ala natural that will be coming out soon...one product is sent packed in dry ice and is kept in the freezer...no preservatives. Would like to know if anyone else has tried other products with the spa. Thank you

Can you tell me where you found the ingredients of paraben listed on the product boxes or brochure. Also what chemicals are you finding. Thanks

Did you use olive oil instead of pretreatment and treatment gels..I thaught they needed to be differently charged

I have a galvanic spa and love the results. Smoother, tighter and cleaner skin. I am 32 and my goal is to never have anything done other than botox or fillers. I have seen personally the results of this device on others. I am also an RN who works in the dermatology field with in office skin tightening devices. This works for in home use for a fraction of the cost.

I personally have not used the spa yet. im waiting for it to be shipped to me. mean while I have been doing alot of research on this G-spa, I found another user said she uses Loreals collagen remodeler instead of the gels or just any water based creams instead of the gels. That these things work. Interesting and alot cheaper. Good luck. Im looking foward to using mine.
suzg 15 Jun 2009
yeah I thought so too!!! Certainly that is how they promote it, and that's why I didn't buy it. I'm not going to spend that much money monthly for the rest of my life. One person on the forum used olive oil and another person says use any water based product...what I don't get it. Can anyone explain???? please :)

You have issues with paraben on your face, but you're ok with injecting BOTOX into your body??!....you're funny!
chellamia 20 Dec 2010
I can barely read the ingredients but there is no paraben in the gels. She talked about a positive/negative affect. There is a pre-treatment gel first ingredient is water, butylene glycerin, calendula flower extract and on and on too hard to read...the 2nd treatment get is water, butylene gycol glycerin isoceteth20, schizandra fruit and on and on...too small to read but nothing obviously artifical, I'm surprised I didn't read this more carefully and wish I understood how it works as it would be expensive to use this twice a week and wonder why can use other products...but so far, I'm happy with results... Wonder how it compares with the dermawand.
chellamia 20 Dec 2010
you wrote a year ago and wonder if you ever got yours and if you used the positive/negative charge gels and did you try the Loreal collagen remodeler? I am curious if that works as the gel products can get expensive over time and I didn't get a clear understanding why the gels were recommended over anything else. I bought two months worth.

NuSkin Dermatic Effects Body Contouring Lotion has listed on the tube: methylparaben and propylparaben at the bottom after a long list of ingredients.

I bought one for 350.00 and it has been sitting in a box for a couple years! I tried botox ended up with migraines, and Dysport mad me deathly sick from just a scratch test! I started using the Galvanic Spa II and wow it works ...I've decided to try it with virgin coconut oil and/or olive oil and see if it works
