hi there,
anyone who has had a lifestlye lift from the ft. lauderdale facility please pass along your feelings about the facility, which doctor used, results and anything else you have to share as i am leaning toward this facility and the procedure.
i was, however, taken aback by the facility. thank you, daisy skinner

I am scheduled for the consult in Miami, I live in Fort Lauderdale and went for the initial consult there, but they are booked up for the surger until Dec. I could get it in Miami in a month. I am a bit nervous after reading these post. I have had facial surgery before and it was done by a great doctor and has lasted years. I am very beautiful with great skin. I just need my neck done. They assure me this doctor in Miami has been doing this procedure for 20 years and that he is good. Can you add anthing that would help me out with this decision. I think the fact that they do this procedure only would make them more experienced.
Thanks for your help. {edited email address}.

I had mine done by Dr {edit} in Ft Lauderdale about 6 months ago and I am very happy. he was very good and was very caring. And, he made sure that he went over everything twice to make sure I had a great result.

Had procedure done in May'07. Two months later, I am looking more and more like I did before the surgery...jowls, heaviness in lower face, feel the turkey neck coming back. I dread looking in the mirror. I am 53 years old and had the procedure done in Ft. Lauderdale. What information do you have?
2/8/08

Had it done on March 13th; 2 1/2 weeks ago. Contact me personally for doctor info; am very pleased with the doc. Sutures are out; still lots of scabbing; swelling, numbness and some pain. Pain is more discomfort for which I take only Tylenol extra strength and some nights I pop a Vicodin. Hardest part is finding my regular sleeping spot. Hair covers incisions completely and I've started wearing makeup. I had the lift and chin lipo, and yes, I do look better. And younger! Had a lot of under skin bruising; looked like wine spot or looked like I had been beaten. All this has now disappeared.

Hi Pia,
I am glad to hear you are doing well. I am scheduled for the same procedures next week but at a private dr. who used to be with LL. Thank you for posting your progress-gives me a chance to know what is going to happen-like a timeline! Someone mentioned to me that LL results are short lived-have you heard this or knowanyone who had a long time ago??
3/31/08
Hi Judy, I am sched for next week, if you want to contact me privately-{edited}. Wish me luck!

I had my LL on March 19 and a lot of the swelling has gone down but my ears are still very numb. My neck looks wider because of the bands being pulled up. are you having these problems still and if so how long do you think this numbness is normal.
4/3/08
Thank you, I pray all goes well with you. Let me know, ok? God Bless.

Did you get a better price by going to a different doctor that is not with LL?
4/11/08
sherri - did you have the procedure done?
4/11/08
How did your proceedure go? Are you happy with the results, how was the pain level.
Dr. Westine is doing my proceedure this month (April).
Would you please get back to me thanks.

4/11/08
Hi, yes, I had it done on Wed. Everything went smoothly and I left the office feeling just fine. Yesterday I had some discomfort-I really did fine with 2 x tra strength tylenol but did try the vicodin--that's when the trouble started. I got really nauseated but thank goodness today has been much better-back to the tylenol xs. All the hanging stuff on my neck is GONE!!
4/11/08
Hi Whitelace,
My procedure went great. I did not do it at the LL center but in a private office. The Dr. has been unbelievable-has called me every day since to check on me and has checked me in the office twice as well.
The day of surg was no problem-the second day took mostly tylenol xtra strength. Started on vicodin and got really nauseated, threw up from that but went back to the tylenol--better now. My face is swollen but so much better than before. My "turkey" neck is gone and I can see already how much better I look.
So to sum it up--awake for the procedure but sedated, no real discomfort until the second day, and this morning--best controlled with tylenol XS and am doing great!!!
4/11/08
I don't know what LL charges-I did not go to them-
4/12/08
Sherri,
Thanks so much for getting back to me and doing it, so soon. I have been really nervious about this. But, after reading your e-mail, I feel much better. At this point I just can't wait to get it over with.
I am so glad that everything went well for you. Enjoy, your pretty face.
Thank You!
4/12/08
Thanks, Whitelace...just to let you know, today is postop day 3 and a half. I am not using any pain killers today. The swelling got pretty bad last night-like I had the mumps. I iced on and off (My mom put frozen peas in latex gloves) during the night and today have less swelling but face still looks kind of like a cantalope! I hear the swelling takes some time to go so with time will get better. Good luck, don't worry, try not to be nervous!
PS try to have whatever supplies (gauze, etc.) handy in the house prior to your surg day.
4/12/08
HI, I had the procedure done last week (4-9-08), just checking to see if you are happier with your results-I am still very swollen here but can see the results will be good--hoping not to have it all back in 2 months as you describe. Has everything worked out ok for you?? Did you have yours done by a female or male dr. at LL??
4/15/08
Hi Sherri,
I'm considering the LL. Can you tell me how you're doing at this time and where you went for the procedure?
Thank you!
Cindy
4/18/08
Hi Sherri,
I was a way for awhile, just read your e-mail, I am sorry to hear about the swelling. How are you doing now? I was thinking about you and hoped that you are feeling better. How do you feel about the results so far?
I am scheduled on the 28th. I wish it would get here fast.
Please take care.
4/19/08
Hi Whitelace,
I am ok--I did have a bit of a problem with a mild cellulitis around the ear/neck area but not serious, just taking extra antibiotics and hopefully will be ok. The worst part of recovery is the swelling takes a long time to go down (well it feels like a long time but it is really only 9 or 10 days...) I still have some bruising around my ears and down my neck. Sleeping is a bit uncomfortable--ask dr. for recommendation.
All the discomfort I have had is well worth the results-When I look at my profile now there is nothing hanging! I feel so much better looking in the mirror.
Hang in there, if you get worried or anxious just remember to keep your eye on the prize!! (Let's all hope it is long-lasting...)
4/19/08
By the way, did I mention I have the best dr? She has called me every day or two since the procedure to see how I am doing. I really appreciate her concern--so different from some of the other experiences I have read.
4/19/08
HI Sherri,
I'm sorry to hear that you had a little problem, but glad that you are doing OK. I think that everyone heals differently. My girlfriend in Tampa who had this procedure done, said that it took three weeks for the swelling to go down, and that her ears were numb for three months. The price we pay for beauty! I'm thrilled for you that you are happy with the results so far, and it's only going to get better.
Your Dr. sounds wonderful! I meet with Dr. Westine on Monday. I've heard so many good things about him, I hope they are all true.
I wish there was a way we could contact each other without putting it on the net, but they don't seem to allow that.
You have been a very nice support, and I enjoy hearing about your progress.
Thanks,
Elaine
4/20/08
Thanks Elaine...believe me I have depended on the pioneers before me to get me through too!
Also, I forgot to mention to you, I noticed I do not have a scar in front of my ear like most facelift patients...she put mine on the ear canal seam inside--I do not have the tell tale sign in front--might want to ask your dr. about this too. I have not seen any pictures on the web showing it done this way. Not sure if it is the "new way" or just her personal style?
4/22/08
Hi Sherri,
Yes, I think the scars in the front and back of the ear, are common for this type of procedure. I was in the Dr.'s office yesterday, for my consultation with Dr. Westine. And, while I was waiting, I got into conversation with a couple of the women who just had it done, and they all had scars in the front and back of the ear. They were not very noticeable and will probably just disappear in time.
I am sooooooooooooo disappointed, I had to cancel my surgery. I cannot have Novocain. I had talked to the consultant, the first time I was there, and she felt that I would be OK with it. But, Dr. Westine will not do the surgery and take the chance of me going to coronary arrest. I can have it done in his private facilty in DelRay. But, I will have to wait till after the summer, we are going away soon and will not be back until the middle of Oct. BUMMER! Oh Well, I guess it wasn't to be for now. I was so looking forward to it!
Sherri, please let me know how you are feeling.
Best of luck!
4/27/08
Hi Smiley,
It's been a long time since you wrote on realself.com about your surgery. I am so curious about how you feel now in 2008 - I am really wanting to do this - young 64! - but see soooooo many negatives. The doctor in Ft. Lauderdale - who was the first to do these procedures (forget his name) looks good to me. Any and all comments would be so helpful.
Thanks,
FATCAT
4/29/08
Hi Fatcat,
I had mine done 2 1/2 weeks ago. (At private MD office, not the LL office) So far so good! No more disgusting skin flapping around under my chin. I used to shy away from cameras but now can not get in enough family pictures!! Kind of wish I did my eyes....
4/29/08
Hi Whitelace,
I have been away for a few days. So sorry to hear of your troubles...I have heard other offices can do procedure under a sort of twilight-(versed) perhaps you might look into this??
5/3/08
Hi Sherri,
I've read in your replys to others that you are so happy with your results. That's wonderful
I am planning to have it done after the summer in a private facility, like you said, in a twlight sleep. I'm still dissapointed that I couldn't have it done last week and the worst would be over by now. But, it was wise of my Dr. not to give me novacain, my system can't handle it.
You enjoy your summer, and your new pretty look.
5/10/08
Candice,
can you e-mail me directly and tell me about Westine. Would like the procedure done with him but have questions.
Thanks
5/12/08
Hi Cindy,
I live in FL, close to Boca Raton and had it done in a private office. Not sure where you live but the office is clean and professional and loved the Dr. I am about 4 weeks post op-neck under chin was very bad before. Post op neck was very tight, as expected it has softened but results still dramatic, I love not having a turkey under my neck! Face is exactly the same.
Feel great, still have some numbness and swelling one one side, expected by Dr. and should subside with more time.
5/14/08
Am thinking of going to Fort Lauderdale for LL procedure, but like the sound of the female doctor who does not cut in front of ears, but inside, would love to know who this is and would really appreciate someone's help in this matter.
Thanks so much.
5/14/08
I would also like this information!

Hi all, I am 54 and just had the LL done this week. The facility in Ft Lauderdale is very clean and comfortable but
I felt they were lacking in the "finer things". I really expected to be pampered and wasn't. I am having an extraordinary amount of pain even with the extra pain medication. Hopefully the results will make it all worth it.
6/5/08
Hi
I am scheduled for a Lifestyle Lift consultation very soon in Fort Lauderdale.
How are you doing? How much "downtime" have you experienced.
I am 49 and was looking to just tighten the neck a bit.
thanks
6/11/08
i just had the lift and neck---it was about 3 days for me then the stitches came out after 7 days
6/16/08
I have a scheduled LL but am considering a female PS in Boca instead.
She would rather do a full fl, but I am not ready at 50.
Can you tell me you surgeons name?
On the fence!!!
6/23/08
Wow it's been a month since I posted here. Downtime was a good two weeks. I hurt so much I could barely wash let alone use make-up. I would never have done this had I known. The results are "ok" so far. My neck looks fabulous. The rest, face and upper eyes ehhh...better yes but not "right". About the facility...it was very assembly line and not private. When I asked for a screen to be put up to remove my stitches I was rudely told no, that only personnel use that hallway, yet I had just come down that way. The person who removed my stitches was beyond rough! I was already in such incredible pain that it was just a nightmare. I had "awakened" during the lift procedure and after begging the Dr to stop and give me another Valium he continued for several minutes until he finally did stop and give me more medication. I had an opening of the wound around my right ear and bleeding. All the Dr did was put a steri-strip on it and told me to keep it dry. Luckily it's healing properly now. I have pain and soreness as well as numbness around both ears. I have to go back in to have my lower eyes done and am literally scared half to death but that is my worse feature, should have done it first I guess. The whole experience has been aweful and I would never recommend it to anyone. Money wasn't an issue...I should have done some homework on this. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of help or you need to talk post procedure. It's been a very lonely, painful and disappointing experience.
6/24/08
Wow! Thanks for your revelation! I just asked for my deposit back today
and am waiting for a response. I am going to save a bit more money and use
the surgeon that did my tummy tuck. She was awesome and I'm beginning
to believe the cliche "you get what you pay for".
Hope you heal well and I get my deposit back!

Hi...new to this forum..
I am a bit confused that the dates of posts are not in order
I am intersted in lifestyle lift in Fort Lauderdale Area...I know of 2 docs, 1 male, 1 female...would love some input from people who have used them...can you email or message me here to give me details?
I am also intersted in the "private office" doc who does a similar procedure or other info people have about local doctors.
My problem is the neck, slack muscles...a little jowls, but mostly soft under the neck, my skin is great, it is the muscle underneath. This, for me, is really heriditary. My mother and grandmother both had this sort of mushy jaw/neck problem.
Cam you email me through the site?? I understand that we can not name docs on this site. I would appreciate any and all feedback, positive or negative.
Thanks

hi, its' been over a year since you posted so I wonder now how things are with you. I haven't had anything done yet, however i did get 2 estimates from plastic surgeons and one for a lift. the lift procedure was around 3 - 5 thousand and the other two were between 9 and 10. My second plastic surgery estimate came after the lift estimate and she told me that the bands can break loose and then they may have to be surgically removed and then you will be back were you started or worse. She did not recommend them. I saw an informercial on Lyfestyle lift and was curious if it was the same band procedure I had gotten an estimate for. unfortunately I can't afford any of it now, should have done it when I had the money! oh well how are you doing?
