So frustrated. Ortho wants me to get 'invisable' braces instead of Invisalign. My teeth are not super bad!

So I went to my orthodontist today in hopes of him telling me I could get Invisalign. Well he told me basically that they will not work, and that I should get invisible braces and he may have to pull two teeth. I do not want metal braces, and am against getting teeth pulled. I am 25 years old and I do not want visible braces. My two front teeth are crowded and I have an over bite. By the looks of research and before and after pictures of other Invisalign users, my teeth should qualify. He also told me they would cost me $9000. I am going to a different orthodontist next month to hear his opinion. What do you think I should do??? I am dead set against metal braces! Ah
Obviously I don't know what your teeth look like, but invisalign is surprisingly very good with all sorts of orthodontic problems. I have overlapping teeth, horrible overbite, and a large 5mm gap between my front teeth and my orthodontist, who does research with invisalign and is very skilled with the treatment, found it to be no issue and said I could proceed with invisalign. I was very skeptical because many had denied me invisalign treatment already, so she showed me a few of her invisalign cases and I was shocked. She explained to me that invisalign isn't taught in dental schools and all orthodontists need to offer it is a certificate they get after a short course offered by the company or something like that. So in the hands of an unskilled orthodontist, they're useless. I would recommend you find an invisalign premier provider and got their opinion.
I am so sorry to hear how frustrated you are. :-( I think you are doing the exactly right thing by seeking out a second opinion. It might not be a bad idea to even get a third, hopefully with the third you will hear some commonality between the advised treatment, and get a better feel for realistic options for your treatment, whether that is Invisalign or clear braces.
Please keep us posted what you find out at your next consult!
Fingers crossed with you!! :)
