Flanks bulge after tummy tuck

By matt69 on 29 Apr 2010

I am a 34 year old male who had a full tummy tuck in Dec 09, I had a seroma which was drained 4 times and now have a hard mass where the seroma was just above and around the navel, also there seems to be a lot of loose skin on my flanks which on the before photo wasn't there, is there anything I can do about the hard mass and the excess skin around the flanks, my PS says my tummy needs to settle down, I am not too sure about this, thanks

I would think your surgeon should at least waive his fee. You'll probably still have to pay for the facility and anesthesia, but that might vary from surgeon to surgeon.

Thank you Angie for the reply, I am going to see the PS at the end of the month, I have requested the patient co ordinator be present at the meeting, I will insist on a second opinion should the need arise. Just one question, who pays for the lipo and excess skin removal to fix the said dog ear effect, thanks again, M

It's possible the excess skin is a dog ear effect, where skin and/or fat kind of pooches out from each end of the scar. This is not uncommon and can be taken care of with lipo. I'm not a doctor, but you might want to get a second opinion on the hard mass.
