I just had my 5th laser treatment. As I've traveled this journey, I've begun to make some changes so I don't feel quite as unwell after a treatment. I take extra B vitamins and antioxidants, including green tea extract. I try not to overexert in the first 24 to 48 hours. I make sure that I am fully hydrated and drink extra fluids including coconut water. It does seem that these things do help! I won't say that I feel great after a treatment but I can say that it takes less time to bounce back. I've been getting my treatments about 4 to 5 weeks apart. I am no expert on this but I continue to believe that this type of intense laser treatment is a trauma to the body, as any injury would be. The body needs to heal so it draws on its own resources and that's why each of us has had unique symptoms. (in my untrained humble opinion!) Also, I am a believer in the power of the mind. This is not to say that any of our symptoms are psychosomatic -- not at all! Instead, I use my mind to encourage healing. I look at the awful bruising and blistering after a treatment and I "see" a tattoo that is no longer there. I see the skin as healed and tattoo-free. I try not to see the tattoo and have feelings of regret. I am genuinely thrilled with even the tiniest bit of fading. I have started to do this same kind of imagery when I am getting the laser treatment. I feel the pain and use my breath and my mind to send it out through the soles of my feet. I visualize both the pain and tattoo and see them break into tiny particles. At the very least it's a good distraction and at the very best I am using my power of intention to help myself. I love having this group as a way of sharing the experience. Stay positive and stay strong.

Hey Eva, i think the headaches after the laser tattoo removal maybe because of heavy metal toxins in the body. I had laser tattoo removal about 2 weeks ago, and for the past 4 days I'm experiencing headaches that won't go away.

Sorry, I just saw this now...sucks that you are having headaches so long after - when do they stop? Did you talk to your doctor about them?

I felt nauseous and light-headed to the point of feeling like I was going to pass out and fall over just an hour after getting my tattoo done. Oh boy, I can only imagine how tattoo removal is going to do to me...

i just had my second treatment and I've been slugish since. Not that I'm having flu like symptoms. Its more like I just feel fatigue and no energy. I didn't feel this way after my first treatment.

ex tattoo artist from Greece.the laser some times may have such symtoms.why?simple because after the treatment[some type of laser] may bring the pigment into your system .with this procedure your system will take the pigment into your body.some pigments from tattoo they have heavy metals[I know I have ten tattoos on my body] there are also special pigments organic with no metals in them.so the pigment will break under the laser and will go into your body.solution?you have to take vitamins chlorella, spirulina zeolite, detox your body.lemon is good to.sorry for my English...

The pain made me want to vomit. I plan on being as doped up as I can possibly be at my next treatment because it is truly unbearable. But then again so are my tattoos.

I haven't had any of these symptoms. I've only had one session (on two tattoos) though.

I have had now 2 laser treatments for my tattoo removal. At the first treatment, I kind of feel some unusual weakness (I am usually energetic). I had my 2nd treatment a few days ago - I wasn't able to sleep well the same night I had it - probably because I did the treatment in the evening and without the anaesthetic cream. Since yesterday, I have been feeling fatigued - and I feel this is likely related to the laser treatment ... it's hard to describe exactly how it is, but it's a general feeling of unusual lousiness...

I had my 9th treatment on large lower back tattoo on Friday. I started feeling sick that night and thought I had the flu all day Saturday. My temp was 99 and my entire torso was sore, from ribs to hips. I was nauseated, exhausted, dizzy and had headache. The symptoms lessened on today, Sunday. But I relapsed when I went to the grocery store. I am getting better now but I just feel off. My mom reminded me that a previous treatment left me feeling a little sick, but nothing like this time. This was bad. I'll have to ask about this at my next appointment.

I'll also add that this is something I have pondered, as I have gone through different stages of mixed "feelings" after laser. Right up off of the chair a few times, moments after laser, I have left the clinic feeling dizzy and disoriented. That feeling slowly transformed into a "headachey" feeling, which persisted throughout the night into the following day. The day after laser, I have experienced moments of flu-like symptoms too...like a sluggish drive, aches, mental fog etc etc. These symptoms, at least for me, were a direct correlation to the intensity of the treatment...as in the treatments which were "stronger" and more intense would exhibit stronger symptoms and vice versa. This is also another reason I opted to wait longer b/w treatments...that laser power is vicious!!

I can relate to your symptoms, I felt the same after more aggressive treatments. I just felt drained for days.

I too am spacing treatments farther apart. I now get anxious when I get on the table. Good luck with your treatments.

Yes, I do! I rarely have been sick in the past 5 years, but each time post treatment (4 treatments now), I have had days of nausea and headaches and general crappy-ness. Not surprised I guess, but good to know about, plan for, and take care of yourself. Another hard thing in the journey.

I was just about to post about the same thing. Had my third treatment yesterday and feel lousy today. Headache and intestinal distress today. I felt like this after the last treatment, too. It's a trauma to the body so not that surprising.

I've had headaches, heartbeat problems and nausea after laser tattoo removal treatments. It feels similar to a stretched out hangover.

notyetnude, have you followed up with your Doctor about your symptoms - especially the heartbeat problems?

I've just had 3rd laser treatment for Roseacia never felt sick after the other 2 treatments but this time feel like have got sun stroke and generally feel really crap. I felt quite scared about it until I luckily read some of your comments where you have obviously felt the same. Thanks for all your comments I suppose it's the ol saying No pain no gain. This is the 4th day since the laser treatment hope I start to feel more human soon and that's not mentioning how scary I look. Sickness has over ridden the horror look feeling Linda F
