Facelift and Rejuvenation l everything went back to the way it was
By Mia 229 on 13 Jan 2011
Had a facelift and neck lift, tipplasty, upper and lower lift and juvederm BUT I looked great before the first month was over and then everything went back to the way it was. the cost was more than a sports car. I have never been so upset with this outcome and don't know what to do. I had a ton of skin hanging from my neck and its coming back just like my jowls. SO BUMMED!
I to will be writing a full report soon, and i feel my apology of a doctor must be laughing his head off ,but hopefully i can warn others about him.
Anyone have name of good doc in atlanta ga area
Wow leaking123, that is certainly a horror story. I am so sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what you have gone through. Our faces are our most visible part so when they don't look right it is hard to keep a positive attitude.
Of course budget is certainly a concern. Have you gone to a different surgeon. Maybe a reconstructive plastic surgeon to see if anything can be done to help out?
I hope things have improved for you since you made this post. I wish you all the best.
I am going back in two weeks so what should I say. My hairdresser told me that a ladys hair that she cut..had the same mini facelift and the lady said that her face was dropping and she was going back to get a redo...It was toooo hard on me I do not think I could do it again...thanks widget
I went back to the surgeon, and he injected perlane to smooth the shape of my face around where it was sagging. It looks much, much better, though not the way it looked a couple of months after the surgery. And he charged me for the injections, which are expensive -- around $1,000. Should I have refused to pay, do you think?
I don't know why this happened to you, but it cannot be your fault. I too was feeling like maybe it WAS my fault. but it can't be.
I still don't understand why my face fell when I was told the effects would last 7 to 10 years. They didn't even last 4 months! And on top of that, the surgeon claimed I looked just fine and it was normal for the tightening to loosen a little bit as it healed. But believe me, it wasn't a "little bit." I saw jowels. I had those little dimples on either side of my chin, where the flesh had fallen and was puckering. My face had lost its shape. This could not be what I paid for, and I am extremely upset with the doctor. He might AT LEAST have validated what I saw, and I don't think he should have charged me for the injections. What do you think?
Anyway, have you spoken to your surgeon about Perlane? Ask him. It should improve your face quite a bit.
Sandwich, I am also sorry to hear about your results. You are right, the results from a face lift should last much longer. I had a facelift and fat transfer in November 2009 and I am still happy with the results.
Soft tissue fillers can help, but they are expensive and the results temporary. I did a fat transfer with my facelift and I think this really helped. I know there are mixed results with fat transfers here on RealSelf, but this has really worked for me.
I also have to ask you what type of face lift you had. Was it the traditional invasive procedure (which is what I had) or was it one of the "lunch time lifts"? This is something like LifeStyle Lift. I am not a doctor, but from the research I did before my facelift the results from these less invasive procedures just don't last. So I am curious.
It might be worth while to do some research into different plastic surgeons and find someone qualified. Go to them for a second opinoin. Having a qualified medical opinion from someone that has actually seen you in person might determine your best course of action.
I hope everything turns out for you. I know it is heartbreaking to spend so much and have high expectations to be disappointed. I wish you the best.

I am sorry to hear about your result jwrichards. I am no doctor but it doesn't make sense to me that sleeping on that side of your face would have any real impact. It can take a few months for the swelling to go down completely so that could be part of the story. But that should be relatively minor.
I had a full face lift, fat transfer in November 2009 and am lucky that I am still happy with the results so results should be longer lasting than that.
Was your facelift one of those "lunch time" lifts or something like Lifestyle Lift? I have heard that these less invasive lifts look great at first but they don't last long. These type of lifts are attractive because they are less invasive, less down time and cost less, but the results from my research don't last.
Definitely talk to your surgeon and bring this up. Ask him/her to take pictures like before and after so you can show the change. Good luck.
I had a facelift back in November 2009. The sagging fat was repositioned and I had a fat transfer as well and this was really helpful for my results.
Definitely speak to your surgeon.
Hi Mia,
I'm so sorry to hear about your bad results. Do you know what kind of facelift you had? From what you describe it sounds like they might have tightened the skin w/o tightening (or tightening enough) the underlying muscle.
Have you spoken to your surgeon about your disappointment?
