Had a facelift and neck lift, tipplasty, upper and lower lift and juvederm BUT I looked great before the first month was over and then everything went back to the way it was. the cost was more than a sports car. I have never been so upset with this outcome and don't know what to do. I had a ton of skin hanging from my neck and its coming back just like my jowls. SO BUMMED!

Absolutely shocking, and sadly i have recently experienced about the same ,and i feel such a fool for wasting my money on 3rd rate surgery.
I to will be writing a full report soon, and i feel my apology of a doctor must be laughing his head off ,but hopefully i can warn others about him.

I wonder if the ones who dump their patients have a high rate of dissatisfaction, and can't afford to deal with everyone. Sorry to hear that happened to you leaking123. My heart goes out to you.

I do not think they will issue a refund. There is no accountability for them to take care of the mess they created. My PS just dumped me and did not pay for any of the post op doctors I went to for 2nd opinions.

When surgeries go so horribly wrong, it is only reasonable that these doctors make it right. If they have a conscience, they should issue a refund, so a person can get the job redone and live the rest of their lives in peace.

I had a facelift, ended up with a drain in my face for 2 months and now the one side of my face is "caved" in and I look like a freak. On top of that the doctor sheared the top off of my parotid gland and it drained for months whenever I ate or drank, so I had to try and stop eating until it healed (lost 10#). Bottam line, I look much worse now then before surgery. Do not expect your surgeon to care, mine basically dumped me.

Wow leaking123, that is certainly a horror story. I am so sorry to hear that.  I can't imagine what you have gone through.  Our faces are our most visible part so when they don't look right it is hard to keep a positive attitude.

Of course budget is certainly a concern.  Have you gone to a different surgeon. Maybe a reconstructive plastic surgeon to see if anything can be done to help out?

I hope things have improved for you since you made this post.  I wish you all the best.

I had a mini facelift on Dec 15 and noticed that some of my skin is starting to hang...the doc says that I am sleeping on that side but it does not make since that 31/2 months that the sleep would cause the skin to start dropping ..it is mainly on one side. I got a satin pillow case and a face pillow....I was thinking that it is not having any esteron or my collegan is gone. what do you think? I only paid 4600.00 but still
I am going back in two weeks so what should I say. My hairdresser told me that a ladys hair that she cut..had the same mini facelift and the lady said that her face was dropping and she was going back to get a redo...It was toooo hard on me I do not think I could do it again...thanks widget

That is more or less what happened to me! I had a facelift -- the whole lower face, tightening the muscle beneath the skin, everything! I loved the way I looked. I was SO happy. And then I started to notice that my face was sagging again; my "jowels" were coming back. After four months, not that I looked as bad as before, but I was unhappy enough that I didn't want to see people. And that was why I had gone for the facelift in the first place, because I just felt so old and ugly.

I went back to the surgeon, and he injected perlane to smooth the shape of my face around where it was sagging. It looks much, much better, though not the way it looked a couple of months after the surgery. And he charged me for the injections, which are expensive -- around $1,000. Should I have refused to pay, do you think?

I don't know why this happened to you, but it cannot be your fault. I too was feeling like maybe it WAS my fault. but it can't be.

I still don't understand why my face fell when I was told the effects would last 7 to 10 years. They didn't even last 4 months! And on top of that, the surgeon claimed I looked just fine and it was normal for the tightening to loosen a little bit as it healed. But believe me, it wasn't a "little bit." I saw jowels. I had those little dimples on either side of my chin, where the flesh had fallen and was puckering. My face had lost its shape. This could not be what I paid for, and I am extremely upset with the doctor. He might AT LEAST have validated what I saw, and I don't think he should have charged me for the injections. What do you think?

Anyway, have you spoken to your surgeon about Perlane? Ask him. It should improve your face quite a bit.

Sandwich, I am also sorry to hear about your results.  You are right, the results from a face lift should last much longer.  I had a facelift and fat transfer in November 2009 and I am still happy with the results.

Soft tissue fillers can help, but they are expensive and the results temporary.  I did a fat transfer with my facelift and I think this really helped.  I know there are mixed results with fat transfers here on RealSelf, but this has really worked for me.

I also have to ask you what type of face lift you had. Was it the traditional invasive procedure (which is what I had) or was it one of the "lunch time lifts"? This is something like LifeStyle Lift.  I am not a doctor, but from the research I did before my facelift the results from these less invasive procedures just don't last. So I am curious.

It might be worth while to do some research into different plastic surgeons and find someone qualified.  Go to them for a second opinoin. Having a qualified medical opinion from someone that has actually seen you in person might determine your best course of action.

I hope everything turns out for you.  I know it is heartbreaking to spend so much and have high expectations to be disappointed.  I wish you the best.

Sadwich, NO I wouldn't have paid the money for the injections. There's a lot more involoved with my repore with my doctor but can't write in here about it. I wouldn't let him fix a hang nail on me. He knows everything didn't come out because he told someone that, that told me. I have written many reviews about him and I'm not done yet in hoping that woman stay way so what happened to me doesn't happen to them. Right now my left side of my face is always swollen and I it goes numb all the time. My jowls are hanging and the skin under my neck is getting worse day by day and it started two months after the surgery. He refused to give me a revision even though he promised he would during our consult. He cut the nape of my neck knowing I had a cervical problem and never told me he was going to do that until it was over or I would have NEVER had the surgery, and now I have 2 large 4" scars across the bottom of my neck and now thats numb and I can't wear my hair up in a pony tail because you can see the scars. I have a scar under my eye that you can see also. Just a horrible job and I can't afford to have anything done to fix it since I put out the money I did. I have lost all respect for this man and his ability to do good work. There is more to this story and I wish I could really say what I think about this doctor but I can't. I'm glad at least you had something done by yours that at least makes you a little happy. Not one of my friends have noticed I had anything done and when I told them ( really close friends) to embarrassed to tell anyone else they couldn't believe it or what I had spent. I showed them all my photos that I took for a year and they couldn't notice anything. I just look in the mirror and cry. With the money I spent I could have put a down payment on a house. I got ripped off bottom line. But I believe in Karma and it will come back to him. I have photos of me on a few websites and those aren't half of what I look like now. I thought I would look fabulous but I don't and like you I hate to even leave the house because he took away all my self esteem. What a waste of money and if I decide to have ALL this fixed that he did I will go to a female doctor not a male. Lesson learned the hard way. And never get a doctor from a website, get word of mouth from women you know and can see their results. All I can say is do your homework well and research anyone before you let them cut up your face or any other part of your body.

I am sorry to hear about your result jwrichards.  I am no doctor but it doesn't make sense to me that sleeping on that side of your face would have any real impact.  It can take a few months for the swelling to go down completely so that could be part of the story.  But that should be relatively minor.

I had a full face lift, fat transfer in November 2009 and am lucky that I am still happy with the results so results should be longer lasting than that.

Was your facelift one of those "lunch time" lifts or something like Lifestyle Lift?  I have heard that these less invasive lifts look great at first but they don't last long. These type of lifts are attractive because they are less invasive, less down time and cost less, but the results from my research don't last.

Definitely talk to your surgeon and bring this up.  Ask  him/her to take pictures like before and after so you can show the change.  Good luck.

I am sorry to hear about your results Mia. I too am curious about the type of facelift you had. Sometimes less invasive procedure is appealing because it is less invasive, but the results tend to be short lived because the underlying muscle and fat is not corrected...just the skin is tightened.

I had a facelift back in November 2009. The sagging fat was repositioned and I had a fat transfer as well and this was really helpful for my results.

Definitely speak to your surgeon.

Hi Mia,

I'm so sorry to hear about your bad results. Do you know what kind of facelift you had? From what you describe it sounds like they might have tightened the skin w/o tightening (or tightening enough) the underlying muscle.

Have you spoken to your surgeon about your disappointment?
