Has anyone seen this video on facelift recovery? Do you agree with what the doctor says about healing time?

Hey guys, if anyone could go to MHP92103 's post and weigh on on post-op facelift pain, that would be great. She seems pretty distressed and could use the support I think.

I am doing great almost one year out. It really does take almost a yr to settle in. My neck is still very tight feeling I got pt on it last fall and I still feel it tight every day . On my upper eyelids there is a scar line which I will have fixed later this summer. My ps would not fix it as he thought I would lose an ability to close my eyes but I got a second opinion and another md said they could fix. Other than that and at times still feeling slight numbness on cheekbones I am extremely happy.

Yes, it's nice to hear from familiar names again. I wrote several entries already about getting a revision two weeks ago. Since I had the revision, which included a lip corner lift, people have commented that I look "happy." I've always had what is called on the Internet "resting bitchy face." Where when I'm just relaxed I look angry and unhappy. As a result people will instantly dislike me upon meeting me just because they think I'm an angry or judgmental person. It's been a drag. I've noticed a definite improvement in how strangers regard me since the surgery.

My Optometrist referred my to an Opthomologist who I saw today. He said it was a bit better, but not healing fast enough, had me stop the eye drops and put me on oral antiviral meds. I asked if this was caused by my facelift surgery. He said no it is not. He said it was because my eyes were very dry and herpes is an opportunistic virus that attacks an "weak spot" when we are stressed or weaked (like healing from surg and going back to work) Could have happened with anything. Sooo hopefully it will go away in the next few days. He believes it will clear up with no adverse side effects. I hope so, I'm very tired of this blurry vision.

So sorry to hear about your eye difficulties! Hopefully, this will but you on track. I agree that virus' are opportunistic... and this isn't necessarily caused by the FL.

I have big news, ladies. Ths whole facelift thing really exhausted me, on top of my RA, it has been a double whammy. . Anyway, my rheumatologist and I decided its probably time for me to try working part time. I went part time this week, I'm NOT so exhausted now, sleeping better, and in a better fame of mind. While I'm going to be as poor as a church mouse now, I'm going to be feeling better, and be able to enjoy the fruits of my facelift labor. LOL. Looking forward to continued healing :)

My blurry visision was getting better until Friday, then suddenly my right eye gow more blurry. Went to the Optpmetrist today. He lod at my eye, then went and got a collegue who looked at my eye, then they went and got the cornea specialist. they discusssed my case and decided I have a herpes infection coming up. The original problem is nearly resolved, but it left a small errosion nar the bottom. And since I have had cold sores in the past, it looked like the virus is attacking the area. (something it does when you are under stress) So now I am on antifungal eye dropsevery 2 hours, a steroid drop 3 to 4 times a day and antibiotic drops twice a day. go back on Friday for a recheck. Oh well, this to shall pass.

Oh wow. I hope you have a speedy recovery! I was taken off medicine that gave me my flu like symptoms last 2 weeks and in 2 days I felt 100 percent better. Who knew? Meanwhile every blood test known to man was run so still waiting for all that! Stress of surgery I guess is more than I thought!

I went out over week end, for 1st time since work done to see few people who haven't seen me for over 25 yrs. and one I saw at Xmas, I was 2 stone heavier at Xmas, anyway everyone at party that I had not seen in over 25 yrs were saying that I hadn't changed a bit lol ( I felt a bit of a fraud ) really but wasn't going to tell them , I had a lot of make up on to cover all bruises, as still got very black eyes and very bruised on both sides of face and neck 7 weeks after surgery, The person I saw Xmas said I had looked good Xmas but looked stunning on Saturday, so feel all my work has been worth while. I also had a neighbour comment Saturday morning , this was before I cut and dyed my own hair myself as couldn't face hairdressers , I had grey roots about an inch, the neighbour said " i really like the way you have your hair at the moment it really suits you makes you look a lot younger i haven't had hair done since day before my surgery, I was in my garage so he obviously didn't see my roots but noticed something different . So Feeling everything has been for good now, but wishing had done full face lift as really never want to through pain ever again. I had great time Saturday night I was not going to go and kept putting off all day but took the plunge and went for it, and so glad I did, I even got invited to famous private party which we went to and had brilliant night. Very late one, I however i am still recovering from it all and very tired and sleeping loads since getting home.

That is wonderful! It does make what you go through to have this surgery seem like maybe it was worth it when you get those kind of comments. I know what you mean about feeling a bit fraudulent. I've had my upper eyes done and now the lower facelift and when people say there's no way I look like I am nearing 50, I feel the same way.

Had my hair done yesterday, my hairdresser told me she is telling all her clients that she has a client (me) who has had the best face lift she has ever seen!! Quite a compliment since I know she has seen many over the years. ;:-) She (and my hubby who was sitting behind me) she couldnt see the scars and my face looks so smooth. She asked for my surgeons name and number so she could pass it on to a couple of them.

Wow you are so lucky how many weeks out are you? No b and blue? No neck or cheek numbness or feeling of tightness in your neck? I am so happy for you.

I am going to get my haircut for the first time today... very excited about this. I have actually scheduled the appointment with someone my PS recommended in the same building as he is...Maybe risky for some people to have someone new...but this guy understands the difficulty post FL to the face and scalp. Plus my normal guy does a "dry" cut which means wash, blow dry, flat iron and THEN cut. I cannot take a chance on the heat burning my skin where it's still numb and I can't feel anything. I'll let you know how it works but I cannot wait to get this mop trimmed! LOL

I went yesterday for my second color and cut and bow dry. I have to say that I was so surprised as to how much easier it was but how much I had healed but had not realized it. I was fine. Good luck!
