Express vs Full treatmen

I had my work up with my ortho 2 months ago.  I received my trays 2 weeks ago and noticed that I'm on the express package with 9 trays.  I called the financial coordinator as they worked my payment plan up before receiving the case back.   Not only did my insurance pay about 2k dollars I paid 950 down with 175 for 15 months.  We I spoke with her she was shocked I would know I was an express case     It is right on your package.  Here is my problem.  I don't trust them now but if I finish the express case with out refinement they will refund the difference invisalign charges for express vs full line.  Is this standard procedure.  Should I be concerned and is the difference about a thousand dollars ?

I think you should wait until the first round is done and plan on making the full payments. Most likely there are refinements included with the price of the Full and there aren't with the Express. I would personally wait and see if you want and/or need refinements.

Megan, I just think you can't work a client up for price until you receive the clincheck back. I think if I didn't catch it I would be paying the same price either way.

Actually, from what I understand the dentist/orthodontist is the one who decides which treatment the person should get (ie express or standard). Here is a Q&A that talks about who sets the treatment plan:

Who Makes the Treatment Plan, the Dentist or the Invisalign Company?

I'm so glad you not only realized you were on Express, but also brought it up to them - good job! Hopefully you will be finished within that treatment plan and will be able to get a nice little refund. :)

I can understand why you would have a hard time trusting them now. Keep in mind that there can be miscommunications, or changes made to a treatment plan that aren't always perfectly communicated between the front office staff (finacial coordinator) and the clinical staff, so it may have been a true mistake.

Just my personal opinion, but I think it seems fair if they are willing to refund you the extra if you do end up happy with just the express. Of course it would have been far better if this had actually been discussed upfront, but at least they are willing to refund you if they can.

Here is a Q&A that gives some pricing information on Invisalign Express. Keep in mind the question was from 2 years ago, so the prices may gone up a bit since then.
