Anyone Had Exparel for the Pain Control?

By Marykay on 23 Oct 2012

My Dr. is going to inject me with Exparel for pain control.  She injects right into the abdomin before closing me up and it's a slow release pain medicine that lasts up to 72 hours and negates the need for a pain pump.

I just did a TT and my surgeon used exparel. I'm a huge wimp and I'm pretty sure I couldn't have made it without it. The bruising from the lipo hurt far more than the incisions.

Had my surgery 3 days ago and pain has been very manageable. The nurse at surgery center told me patients with Experel seem to have much less pain. All is well here.

Works great I think. Pain isn't non existent after surgery but I only took a few hydro morphone pills and was off them in 3 days and just using Tylenol regularly for about a week.

Tucson - thanks for the feedback. My PS says it is a big help with the pain but it did add $300 to the surgery (I'm willing to pay just about anything for pain control). I checked out the Exparel website and it sounds like good stuff but really want to hear about any tt'ers that used it :)

My PS injected me with it. It works. I believe mine worked longer than the 72 hours. I think it's still working because I am still numb from just above the naval & down. With the injection, I did take all my pain meds as prescribed. Good luck.
