What is drop and fluff?

By Razorback on 06 Jan 2013

I keep hearing that following breast reduction, your boobs eventually "drop and fluff." What is that and when does it happen?

It has been 4 months, and I haven't noticed that the nipple dropped. The breasts are more rounded and natural looking. I think they will look even better with time.

Everything dropped to a natural look.  They didn't drop drastically though.

When the breasts do eventually drop does the nipple drop with them or do they just fill out more underneath but the nipple stays put?

A drop and fluff is when gravity takes place after reduction and your breasts become a beautiful full tear drop shape.

Immediately after surgery they can have a boxy shape for a while.  Once the healing is underway and gravity kicks in "Poof" they are beautiful!

why do you mean by boxy? do you mean there is more volume on the sides? or just higher up?

Mine actually looked square.   It took some time for gravity to set in and create that nice tear drop shape.

How long does that take approximately? I am 4 weeks post-op and have noticed a big change (for the good) in the way they dropped. Mine weren't ever boxy, but just really high and tight (LOL).

Well high and tight is a good thing..LOL

Mine took between 6-8 months to totally heal and show the final shape.

Did your nipple drop when the breasts did? Or did they just fill out more underneath and got less swelled on top?

mine kinda looks like little hard high cones

Mine looks like high cones and alittle square on the sides...I hope it bottoms out ....least my surgeon say it will .

They will drop and that boxy shape will go away.  Gravity kicks in:)

Exactly! That's how mine look right now. I'm only 12days post op....so I'm anxiously awaiting for the tear drop. Indeed...Patience is required .

My surgeon seemed really pleased on day two. He said he know I think they look weird, but the bottom will drop and make a nice looking boob. Ok. I trusted him enough to cut on me, I guess I should trust his opinion too -lol

Yes patience is required!   I now how hard is but you will get there.
