drains? how does the ps decide when to take them out?

By Wisconsin on 25 May 2011

I have 2 drains in was was just wondering how a PS decide when it is time to take them out. I think its the amount of drainage that is coming out but does anyone know how much you need to be below? Thanks ladies.

All PS differe on this but are pretty close. My PS required that my drainage be below 30cc's for two consecutive days. She also would not pull both at the same time because the other one normally picks up after the first one comes out. My drains were in for a while...the first one was removed on day 12 and the next one on day 15. They were a pain but I'd rather have them in than get a seroma and have to go in and be aspirated!

I had two drains in for three weeks and one month respectively. Just had the second taken out and I feel great. The drainage was to be below 25cc before removal.

I didnt have "under" any certain amount... and mine both came out at 7dpo. They were still fluctuating above and below 30cc.... PS did not seem worried since my output was on the low side from day 1.
