Dr. Sam Rizk Rhinoplasty Cost New York,NY
By tanfeelsugly on 27 Feb 2012
I REALLY want a nose job. I want my nose bridge slightly more smaller/defined & my nostrils a tad bit smaller. I DO NOT want the Michael Jackson thing going on. Dr.Rizk from New York, work looks AMAZING! His website says his consultation fee is $300,but it doesn't say how much the surgery will cost. I'm trying to save up at least $15,000 total for the surgery, consultation, plane tickets & hotel/nurse service. I really need to know how much he charges for rhinoplasty that i want. Please Help?
My surgery cost me $19,000 for Dr Rizk's fee, $3,000 for the facility fee and $1,000 for the anaesthetic fee - $23,000 all in and I had to save up for a LONG time to cover this!
BUT - having seen bad nose jobs on friends in the UK and US I didn't trust anyone else to work on my nose. I mean, it's in the middle of your face and unless I was considering changing my religion, there would be no easy way to disguise a bad nose job.
Dr Rizk has a very lovely and calm manner and prefers a natural look in his work, which is exacly what I wanted. I seriously wouldn't be able to face the world again if I ended up with a Latoya jackson look - ewww!
My own areas of concern were that I wanted my 'thick' wide nose bone thinned down and bulbous tip reduced with surgery, which is exactly what Dr Rizk has done. He was also considering reducing the size of my nostrils, but mid-way through surgery he decided this might result in what he called a 'pinched' look (which is what I didn't want), so he decided against this work. And I am so glad he didn't do this.
My recovery so far has been a breeze. I had no bruising whatsoever after surgery (a miracle since I bruise very easily), although the girl who went in after me had the traditional 'racoon eyes' bruising so this isn't always the case and I guess I was just lucky. I experienced no pain post surgery (weird but true, especially since he had to break my nose!) and the most annoying thing was the tickly cough and sore throat i had after surgery due to the anaesthia tube. Cough lozenges and anticeptic throat spray helped with this though.
One of the things that no-one tells you about is that you get a lot of gas due to having to take 2,000mg of vitamin c before and after surgery (it's a side effect of vit c megadosing unfortunately). It is seriously very bad (and smelly, gross!) and I couldn't wait to come off vit c yesterday!
I had 'open' rhinoplasty, where Dr Rizk made an incision on the outside of my nose on the bit that joins the nostrils (I think it's called the collema). I had stitches here which looked horrible for 7 days before they were removed as they were black and they looked like a line of hair and blood on the tip of my nose, like a sort of wolf-lady, not attractive! When they were removed 7 days later I was amazed that there wasn't even a scar. Not even looking at it through a magnifying mirror - amazing!
Another thing that no-one tells you about is the black heads that you get on your nose after the cast and tape are removed. I have oily skin anyway, but it went into some sort of mental overdrive post surgery and still hasn't normalised. My advice is to have a deep cleansing facial before surgery as you have to wait 3 months post surgery to massage your face or have any facials, and my skin is still a very crazy with oiliness and nose blackheads. This is very annoying, but a small price to pay all things considered.
I am still very swollen, so at the moment my nose looks pretty similar to my old one (not bigger than my old nose - thank god! - just v. similar). My boyfriend says he can notice the difference and that he can tell it will be a very pretty nose in the end, but the swelling is a killer. You just want to see your new nose straight away, but have to wait up to a year to see the final result! This is standard for all rhinoplasty, no matter who the surgeon is (and up to 2 years for extensive revision rhinoplasty). One of the weirdest things is that the swelling can change from day to day - depending on what you eat (try to avoid salt/sodium as this increases swelling), how you slept and a whole bunch of other things. Every day I wake up to 'the incredible changing nose' as I call it!
All in all I am extremely happy with Dr Rizk and his staff and would 100% recommend him. I still have to reserve judgement on my 'final' look jhowever as I don't have this yet, but the look so far is good.
Wow! That's a lot.
Hi there and welcome to RealSelf! I think you're going to need to call Dr. Rizk's office and ask for costs and/or have a phone or online consultation with them if he does those. Even if someone else tells you what they paid Dr. Rizk, it could be different for you depending on your tissues and what you need done.
Let us know what you decide!
