Dr. Motykie or Dr. Ghavami for revision rhinoplasty?

By racheallynn on 16 Oct 2012

Sorry if I posted this twice. But I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with either Dr. Ghavami or Dr. Motykie for a revision rhinoplasty? I love both of their galleries I just don't really hear them spoken about so much for their revision work.  Ifanyone has any info or experiences that they would like to share input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know this is an old post, but want to add-- my primary (and revision) was with an older very experienced surgeon. An instructor, the head of the board...blah blah. End of the day (10 years later) I certainly wasn't deformed but have an asymmetrical tip, mild collapse, V deformity, hanging column, droop tip.... all very mild but they add up to be a nose that could benefit from further work. This time around I'm only going to a nose SPECIALIST and would not let age play a factor. It's about being a nose god. Also looking back, it's much about who you find that aesthetics best match yours. Don't let a doctor erase your ethnicity or look. That being said, with revision sometimes, it's more about damage control, not like starting with your bigger virgin nose --don't we all wish we could?!

That's all true, but I do think Ghavami went through a lot of special training for rhinoplasty and is on the national rhinoplasty board in Dallas. So this makes him pretty well qualified, at least more so than other plastic surgeons.

Dr Ghavami and Dr Myotike have the stand out pictures of rhinoplasty for me out of every website i have searched and believe me i have searched many. However, they are both very unexperienced, which is the only thing that is a downside. Where did u find out about Dr Ghavami special training?

That's nice. I'm not really interested in Dr. Fleming, but best of luck with your decision.

I consulted with Ghavami. To be honest I felt much better when I consulted with richard fleming. He honestly said everything ghavami said and even pointed out other things and he spent so much time with me and then to top it off he is reasonably priced. I was going with the mindset price isn't going to make my decision but he was truly the best consult I have had. He is a revision specialist i would consider him also. I t hink I will get mine done with him next year when I have the funds.

look at maybe using one of these two as well for a revision (4th). The problem i have with these two, although their gallery is good, two of the best, they are very unexperienced, only 5-10 years in the field. Might be good for primary but not sure about revisions. Although GM has a great revision gallery as well as a primary, DR G doesnt really have many revisions up on his gallery

On his site and internet searches. He is part of the international rhinoplasty board (I think that is what it is called) and he went through the same sort of specialized training program that doctors who only do rhinoplasty go through. He is also published on rhinoplasty and has coauthored material alongside Rod Rodrich who is a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon in Texas. I also would like a surgeon to have a few years more experience, like maybe 15-20 years, but most of the surgeons that I have been interested in like Shah, Cochran, Ghavami, and Motykie are all in the 5-10 years in practice range. Some of the older docs that I have a consulted with have come across to me as a bit more arrogant and harder to work with.

im the same boat but these so called experienced revision doctors, ive seen their photo gallery and im not impressed. I think they are too old school. Three websites of the photo gallery i like most are Dr Myotiki, Dr Ghavami and Dr Rizk. No other website inspires me with their noses. I think its partly because they are 'new' they are eager to impress and also because they are 'new school' rather then these old school surgeons. But as revisions are complex, im just not sure whether they are experienced enough, that is the only thing holding me back.
