Dermabrasion or dermaplaning for wrinkles?

By Lisa M on 03 Apr 2007

Dermabrasion or dermaplaning would be an option to get smoother skin texture and reduce the signs of wrinkles. After the procedure your skin will be younger looking with less shadow lines and wrinkles. A less invasive alternative would be a series of microdermabrasion treatments. There would be no pain or downtime but a less dramatic result after one procedure.

Permanent is a difficult word to define in the cosmetic world. After a dermabrasion treatment, you will have permanently reduced the number and depth of your wrinkles. Your skin will be younger, smoother without age spots or freckles but will continue to age and new wrinkles will form over time.

I've had dermabrasion, and I would say that my experience seemed to reveal more of an intense exfoliation than anything else.  Mine started with an AHA application, which probably intensified the effects.  If you're looking for something to help reduce the wrinkles, I'd suggest a laser.  You don't have to go CO2 to get results now.  There are other lasers now that don't cause wounds or a lot of downtime.  I had fraxel done a couple of years ago, and I liked the results.  In fact, I'm thinking of starting another round, but this time with the same technology but a little different type of fractional laser.  Do a search on this, and you'll find lots of info.  I'd love to find more personal experience with this, but I haven't seen much online.
