seriously, my back hurts worse than my stomach! I cannot find a comfy position to sit in because if I sit too long my butt goes numb, any way i sit or lay my back hurts and if I stand up hunched over leaning on something...my back kills me! My stomach feels so tight....I think the swelling it setting in. I also need to eat better and drink more water. I have not been a very good patient since coming home :-( I am taking my 2 percocets every 3.5-4 hours as prescribed. Over all, the recovery isn't too bad. I had 2 c/s prior so I had a small idea what to expect. I am not handling the sitting around very well..I overdid it today. Husband not so nicely pointed this out....noted. Must take it easy *sigh*   I could really use some words of encourage of just an 'i've been where you are, hang in there!"   TIA!

This is totally normal. By Icy Hot with the roller applicator so you can apply yourself and easily. It worked great for me.

It will get better! Five days post op was absolutely my low point. I was in so much pain, my hubby would literally sit and hold my hand till each dose of meds kicked in. Amazingly, three days later, my drains were out and I drove my kids to school and worked a little from home. You will have good and bad days, and the recovery can be sloooow at times, but the first week is the worst of all. Also, you have nothing to distract you from the pain that early on! Have you tried hot or cold compresses to your back? Heating pads can be your best friend if Percocet is not doing it for you! Sending many hugs.

THANK YOU!! you cannot realize how much better this makes me feel and gives me some hope! Everyone told me the first 5 days were terrible but I figured physically, not so much mentally. The laying around is the hardest part. I am constantly going, going so this is difficult for me. I have been using heating pad on my back...helps a little. I am just damned if I do and damned if I dont, if I stand my back hurts. If I sit too long, my butt goes numb LOL I know there is light at end of tunnel but yesterday was rough day, thanks again!

How are you feeling today? It is a roller coaster of weird sensations, both physical and emotional! I am eight weeks out and still have twinges and aches, but not like that first crazy week; after the first week you can function better each day and distract yourself!

thanks for checking! it is getting better! I had first follow up today...I will have drainage tubes for another week. It seems like the more I am able to straighten up while standing, the back pain decreases, thankfully!!! how long did you wear your binder afterwards? Do you feel close to normal after 8 weeks?

I wore my binder 24/7 for about five weeks, and probably would have kept doing it, but we went on vacation to Florida. I wore Spanx and compression workout gear that week. After six weeks my doc said I could go without if I wanted, so my use has been kinda sporadic. I wear my binder when I am walking or doing physical work like housework or walking/lifting charts and stuff a lot at work. I prefer to wear Spanx but I only have two and I have to launder sometime! At eight weeks out, I am able to function normally except for being tired moreso than usual. My torso and back are still kind of achy and spasmy though. I get the impression that I am taking longer to bounce back than average, if people on these threads are to be believed! Most of my fellow tummy tuckers say they aren't sore any more...only a few of us are still whiny! Well, most still say that they are swollen but not hurting.

its funny because I wore a binder religiously when I was pregnant with twins...it was only way I could walk some days!! Once they were born, I threw all my binders away because I HATED them by then. I have found a new love for them...I wish I wouldn't have thrown them away lol My back is better. Now I have the annoying pain in my groin which from what I am reading is caused from nerves and should go away eventually. I will call doc on Monday to see what is going on. It is more annoying than anything. Slowly decreasing my pain meds....I was taking 2 every 4 hours, now I alternate 2 and 1 and I feel fine. SUPER EXCITED to get my drains out Friday, I cannot wait for that!! Thank you again for all of your insight :-) very helpful!

You are welcome! I remember having pain in my groin at your stage...I am happy to say that it one thing that is definitely gone...and the weird swelling/puffiness in my pubic area is gone too. I still swell in my torso a bit...it seems to have more to do with activity than anything else! Right now I've been at home for 2 days so no swelling to speak of...kinda nice! Good luck with tapering the pain meds and getting the drains out! My husband ended up pulling my drain out AT HOME on a Saturday because I couldn't stand it anymore. The PS talked him through it on the phone. In retrospect, I can't believe we did that! My husband isn't in the medical field AT ALL (but I am...but I couldn't do it myself...just wait, the drain is bigger than you think inside! I had no idea till I saw it!). I guess he could do anything he sets his mind to!
