Crunches harmful to muscle repair and tummy tuck?

I had a tummy tuck with abdominal wall tightening or muscle repair I guess you call it about a year ago. Does doing intense exercise like heavy abdominal crunches or sit-ups do any damage to the tightening? Can I rip the stitching by doing this?

After two pregnancies, I have diastasis recti. I am looking to have an operation to suture the separated muscles together. I'd like to know if I will be able to do normal sit ups without fear of re-occurence of the diastasis recti once I've completely healed from the surgery and if the internal sutures will dissolve over time while leaving my muscles in tact?
