Sorry you are not happy with your surgery. 15 months is a long time. I would look for another surgeon specializing in revision if you feel that you are very unhappy. I wouldn't use the same surgeon again if you do not like the results he produced the first time. I am very pleased with my surgery so I guess I just got lucky.

Hi guys my nose isn't crooked. however 15 months in the tip is still swollen and numb. The tip of my nose is too wide at the bottom and also the nose is too short. I had a small bump removed from the bridge of my nose. but just feel I have replaced it with another problem , I am extremely fed up and my surgeon is still giving it time to heal (I see him in july again) I had severe soft tissue swelling in my face so he has given the nose a lot longer to heal than usual. Fed up to the max and not happy with the result at all the profile is softer but as I said, the nose is now shorter than it was and wider than it was at the tip end! I feel like I have a snout!!! .

I can't speak to what your surgeon will do but you are still very soon post op...there could still be significant swelling. Like I stated, a good surgeon will not perform a revision for at least a year after the first surgery to give time for all swelling to go down and to let you fully heal. Please remember, you cannot expect perfection, but you should demand significant improvement. If in a year you aren't satisfied, then I would look for a different surgeon who specializes in revision surgeries...I would not use the same doc if you feel he did not do a good job.

im seeking help please!! I just had a rhinoplasty two weeks ago with Dr.HOSSAM FODA in egypt.. my main purpose of this surgery was to correct a slightly crooked nose and make it abit smaller. he did a great job on shaping it however, after surgery even with the splint on i noticed that my nose still appeard croocked like before, now im two weeks post op the swelling has gone down a whole lot but the nose is still crooked the same direction it was before.will dr.foda do a revision for me or what do i do?

Yes, there was uneven swelling after surgery and when I first looked in the mirror, I was worried. But it was uneven swelling. Don't get me wrong, now after a year, if you look obsessively close my nose isn't 100% straight but it looks MUCH better than before surgery and I am satisfied with the results. Now it may or not be the case for you. If it has been a month since your surgery then it less likely that it is caused by uneven swelling. Regardless, don't freak out. You must wait a year to do a second surgery if it is necessary and if you find a good doctor like me, then it can be fixed to your satisfaction with a revision. You need to relax, be patient, give it time to get used to the new look and then if not satisfied find a good doc.

I am not a doctor so I can't give you good advise, just guesses. You can have a second surgery but you must wait one year so that everything can be completely healed before having a second surgery. Sometimes crookedness can be the result of uneven swelling that is temporary. That happened with me. When the swelling sunsided, my nose looked a lot better. My nose isn't perfectly straight but it is a vast improvement and I am happy with it. Be patient, and don't panic because you can always get another surgery. But be sure you have a great surgeon if you do.

I had rhinoplasty in South America 20 days ago and my nose is crooked, I am very worried and sooo disapointed =( . The bad thing is that I am not able to see my surgeon because I am back in the States. Should I go see another plastic surgeon for a consultation?. Will it be corrected with time? Thanks for your help...

I am 5 months and my right nostril side is still lil swollen, so the nose is not aligned right. Its funny, some days the nose looks like it improved well, and the next day it seems swollen again.

I am 6 mos post-op. The nose looks good. You can't tell I have grafts. Its still slightly uneven at the very top of the bridge because I still have a slight fracture there. Apparently the doctor either just didn't notice the fracture, or felt that it was so slight that that it didn't warrant addressing. I confirmed with him that he did not break any bones during my surgery but I had to have major graft work done. I believe it too because he took some serious cartlidge out of my ear. I wish he would have addressed the fracture at the top, but who knows, since its not an exact science maybe he thought it could end up doing more harm than good. I just remind myself that no one has the perfect nose. People aren't even born with perfect noses. Without a doubt, my nose is much improved.

i had mines done lil over 3 wks. my bridge is not centered in the middle, favors one side more. my incision is done inside my right nostril. i'm hoping that this is the reason why its angled on one side more, but i don't think so. looks like i'm convincing myself only cause my bridge is no longer swollen and bruises are all gone on the dorsal part. only my tip is swollen. but the tip has nothing to do with the bridge not centered in the middle. worse thing i just ran into a friend and she had hers done at same doctor. its been over 4 yrs for her, and the bad thing is hers is not centered and it is favoring same side as mines. knowing my luck! i hope your results are better! best wishes to u!

Tigerfan, can you still see the grafts sticking out? If not, when did it go down?

Great information Dr. Westreich. I am 100% sure that the doctor who performed my surgery is highly qualified. He had to use grafts from my ear for the surgery. I am going to be patient like you have suggested and wait for more of the swelling to go down. Thanks for your response.

Update. 2 weeks post op and the nose looks much better. However, it is clear it will still be crooked. It is an improvement though as the grafts serve to camoflauge the crookedness somewhat. The tip looks good though and the chin is an improvement. Not thrilled about my new scars behind ear and on my nostril, but I guess it was necessary to narrow it to make nose better.

I am very happy to hear that things have improved. In these situations, I like to point out a simple fact: Better is better until it's not better any more. Expect improvement in the appearance as well as the visibility of scars. 2 weeks is really early. I'll bet 6 months from now it will have improved tremendously. All the best, Dr. Westreich

this is what I do to prevent from scars. For 6 wks I don't eat seafood and avoid ginger. These advice were given to me from people that had numerous surgeries and without scars.
