Confused... and am I day 6 or day 7 po

hi guys, I had my surgery last wednesday (6th July), does that mean I'm day 6 or day 7 po today (12th). Gosh that makes me sound so thick doesn't it, but I don't know whether I count the day of surgery as day 1 or whether to count the next day as day 1. Help !!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
