Concerned about not being able to breathe.

By Ashley Arizona on 17 Aug 2012

I have always hated my nose and have always pondered the idea of rhinoplasty. Laitly my husband and I have been watching nip tuck and so it's been weighing on my mind a lot. I never knew much about the procedure until I started reading post on this forum. I am NOT a mouth breather because I have had a fear of critters crawling in my mouth when I sleep. I read a few people's stories about how they can't breathe as easy after the operation. And it concerns me. All I want done is to shave down the hump of my nose so it's more of a slope or slant. Can anyone tell me more about what I'm wanting? I'm ok with the rest of my nose. Does this kind of procedur require a touch up? If yes how many years will I have before a touch up?

If your procedure is done correctly the first time, it shouldn't require a touch up. The single most important step is to choose the right surgeon for you. Here's what some doctors have to say about that. I always recommend going on at least 2 or 3 consults with board certified plastic surgeons so you can learn about different approaches.

I did not choose the right surgeon the first time, so I hope you can learn from my mistake. My story is here.

What about breathing problems? I would hate myself if I wasn't able to breathe through my nose. I'm so anal about being able to breathe easy through my nose I use nasal rinses anytime I start to feel clogged up.
