Compression Garments!?

By 3gmom on 04 Jun 2011

I read the post from early May...are there any other suggestions? What did you go with and where did you get it and cost etc...? I want to get all this kind of stuff before hand. I'm somewhat of a preparer, drives my husband crazy lol! My surgery is Aug 31.

Talk to your doctors office and see which they recommend.  They are all different and may even have what you need at the office.

I really love my Flexees garment by Maidenform. It is a tube shape that goes from hips to under breasts - no zippers, etc - just pull on. You don't have to wear it on your butt & thighs & worry about having to pull it up & down each time you go to the bathroom. I got mine at Macys. It is a nude color & doesn't show under t-shirts. I still wear it when I am busy or in the heat at 9 weeks post op.

Hey Madison!
Is your garment the Flexees Womans Easy up Easy down pull on waistnipper? I don't have a macys near me so I'm trying to find it on the internet.
Thanks!

Hi Wisconsin, I just checked on Macy's website & yes it is that one - the Firm Control Waist Nipper Easy Up Easy Down Pull on 2368. It is on sale for $23.71. I was reading the reviews & some people did not like it, but I think it is perfect. I am 5'3" & 110 lbs & it does not ride up on me. Watch the sizing though, because I thought for sure I would be a Small, but that was soooo tight & uncomfortable I had to buy a Medium, which was perfect & still fits good.

I was just looking at another Flexees on the Macys website that is the same shape but has hook & eye closure in the front. That one may be good too if you don't want to pull one on over your feet every time you wear it. Good luck!

Thank you Madison!
Does the garment over your scar nicely? The pictures looks like it does. I bought a different one from kohls and the bottom of the garment sits right on my scar and was extremely uncomfortable.

Your very welcome Wisconsin! The garment goes right over my scar & all the way down to my hips. I wear it over my underwear. It is very comfortable & I never have a problem with it bothering my scar or riding up. You also cannot see it under t-shirts.

I am in love with these. they're stage 2, but i switched after the first week because they were tighter and better and reduced swelling more then the stage 1, and my doctor said they were fine. for the first week or so you may want a stage one because its easier to get in and out of with zippers. but i would go with the same brand. i can't say enough good things. comfortable, helps with swelling, stays in place.

Hi Meliora...I tried to link to the Marena link you gave but can't. Can you tell me what yours looks like and what is called and i will just look on their website. Do you have a pic of it? My dr office gave me info on them as an option for me to buy on my own you know post op. Anyways they said they weren't just "set" on me getting that one brand but just that or something like it. I have it down to Marena or Veronique. Thanks :)

I got these 2, if you can afford it 2 is better. you have to hand wash and dry them so, its nice to have an xtra. I got short legs and no legs. I would say they both serve different functions outfit wise, but the most comfortable would be the garment with shorts. it rules.

Initially I tried to cheap it out and wear my Spanx but they roll down and I hated having to put up and down my legs. I have the ones that go from below breast to above knee. I had lots of swelling that 2nd week. Then I found a review for Squeem by this lady who just had twins. I ordered with the quicks from Amazon and when I got it, I realized I should have got a large. I squeezed it on anyway. The first few days it was like tortured and then my swelling went down and I was able to walk upright. I showed my plastic surgeon today it he was fine with it. I told my fiancé that I don't swell anymore -hope it's permanent
