I had a c-section with twins three years ago. I was miserable afterwards for a couple of weeks. My TT + BA (1 year ago) was much easier. Then again with a c-section you are getting up, moving around and picking up babies but after a TT you're resting and not lifting anything...

I had 3 c sections and a Tt on July 26th the tummy tuck was a piece of cake for me WAY easier then the c sections!!! everyone is different but just sayin my recovery was so easy!! just had pain killers for the first couple of days and they were only anti inflamm. just think positive

I had 2 C-sections and I just needed Tylenol to overcome pain., but there is no way I could tolerate TT pain without pain medications for the first 12 hours after surgery. I had full TT with abdominal muscle repair, as well as liposuction and that pain is much more worse than C- sections. It is something else!!! However, it is part of the process and I don't regret a moment about my decision. My husband's first question when I got out of the OR was: would you do it again? and I said, Of course!!!! So it's worth the pain...

Tummy Tuck is worse and I think its because your skin is being stretched and your walking all hunchy because of it. C-sections are easier because all the skin stays! I was like you trying to figure out the pain, I was terrified especially in OP room! But I'm very happy with my results...No pain No gain :)

I had an emergency c sec with first child. I was cut hip to hip...

I am 3 wks PO from my full tummy tuck w/ lipo of flanks and a hysterectomy...
The pain was way worse than my c sec due to the lipo...all my pain was in my back muscles from the get go.

I had two c sections. The pain from the tummy tuck is much worse in my opinion. I just had mine done on Aug. 12th. The abdominal wall hurts like a constant ache which needs a constant dose of pain medication. Don't wait until you feel pain to take it. The lipo sites are very tender to the touch, as long as you don't touch them they don't hurt too much. You can't stand up straight and if you laugh, cough, or sneeze it is enough to make you cry. Is it worth the pain to be finally rid of all the excess skin...absolutely! I'm glad I did it. Good luck.

My first emergency c-section after many hours of labor was by far worse. My second sheduled c-section was even worse. I had a full TT with hernia repair and lipo and it wasn't that bad. There is pain but with proper pain management it wasn't a big deal at all. I was off meds in less than a week.I would do it again in a second.

Tummy tuck for me was far more painful.

I had one cesarean after a long and difficult drug-free labor (read- I was sore). I felt like the experience was pretty comparable the first couple of days. Although for both procedures, I took my pain meds around the clock to prevent break-through pain. I was still uncomfortable, even with the pills. After the first couple of days, though, I felt like the tt was worse. I had muscle repair, and that was what hurt the most for me. With a cesarean, you want to brace your incision when you cough or sneeze, but with a tt and muscle repair, you want to brace your whole abdomen! Plus, the incision goes so much further, it makes sleeping that much more difficult. Still worth the pain, though, imo. Good luck!

My tt was a lot more painful then c-sections only because I had my ab muscle repaired and lipo as well. I have a high pain tolerance too. This is my experience tho'. :)

Ndngirl - You took the words out of my mouth. I breezed right through my c-sections, but this tummy tuck kicked my butt!

I have had 3-sections...you cannot compare the 2 procedures. I feel for me the results far outweigh the pain and discomfort. My surgeon kept me overnight...some don't. I ended up staying 2 nights bc I was ill.from pain meds and my Dr. wanted me to feel better before he released me. I felt like a did a million crunches for a million days in a row! But never had pain like with a c section at the incision site. I had muscle pain/soreness and it was really hard to get comfortable in bed but still totally worth it. I'm almost 6 wks post op...my Dr still has me wearing a girdle 8 hrs a day but I also have a physical labor job and do heavy lifting at work.

Hi there, On RealSelf I've heard women say both, that a c-section was much worse and not much worse than a tummy tuck. Here is what some doctors have to say.

I am 5 days out from having a mini tummy tuck. I wanted to know the answer to this myself before the procedure but couldnt find an answer. Im sure it depends on what you have done. I had a mini TT my muscles did NOT have to be sewn back together. I have had 2 c-sections and like you the 1 st was a lot worse than the 2nd. But both c-sections were worse then the TT has been. Like I said Im on day 5 and havent had to take pains meds for 3 days now. I had the drain removed today (that was the worse part) Good luck it will be worth it!!!!
