Capsular contraction removal or replace with new implants?

By castanet uk on 02 May 2012

I have been advised after 10 years need to have my implants replaced due to capsular contraction on my right hand side. I have read that once you have had it you will get it again, which makes me wonder to get them removed, however after having a baby, breast feeding with implants etc worried what they will be like which will make my self estteem drop and hence the reason for having them done in the meantime. However now in my forties, scared to  know which way to turn? Transform not really ppushing for me to have removal as asked if have any info or previous peopleto hear from...

Hi, what did you decide? Only you can make your decision, but from reading reviews on the forum the vast majority of women are very glad they opted for removal. It seems like it is an emotional rollercoaster but you will get through it if thats what you decide to do. x

Morning,

Hi I am actually going to see consultant tomorrow, as have spoke to lady at Transform and from previous notes due to my size ie 32/34 aa it would depend on my breast tissue if there was anything left, which is what is making me worry. So hoping from the conversation tomorrow night he can assure me what may be the best way to go. But ultimately it boils down to myself. Emoltional Rollercoaster.x

Hi there! Have you confirmed that you don't have PIPs? I know this is a hard decision, and it all comes down to how committed you are to being contracture free. I don't know what the statistics are for contracture relapse. You might want to consider posting this as a question in the doctor Q&A community and they could give you a better idea of what the relapse rate is. Good luck, and please let us know what you decide to do.
