Did you get burned or white streaks from bad chemical peel?

By Michelleharbeson on 01 Sep 2008

Does anyone know how I can heal the scarring on my face from a bad chemical peel? I am devasted to say the least. They left the peel on too long while I was asleep. I have tried vitamin E--nothing helps. It looks like someome burned my face and I have white streaks at the jaw bone on both sides. If you have had this problem, too, please let me know. Thanks...signed Depressed

I hate these companies that make this crap. I wish they didn't allow this peel to be sold to regular consumers and this wouldn't have happened.

Hi Bev, Yes I have white streaks around jaw line I sued and lost. It is an inherent risk and they screwed up. I cover them with this stuff called dermablend cover creme 1oz jars can get in department stores or beauty supply places. I use it everyday and I hate it. They do not really cover them up but it is all I can do. No one can fix white streaks they are scars for life. I am sorry for you too.

You could get it tattooed to your skin color I guess

Where chemical was put I have a white place that will never go away. Almost impossible to cover it up. I look like I have a beard.

I have used peels for years & have burned sensitive areas a few times. The best treatment I have found for this is using 100 % Aloe Vera (found at health food stores or online) & Aquaphor ointment mixed with over the counter 1% hydrocortisone cream (unless you can get a prescription for higher %). Aquaphor is very healing & is used by many plastic surgeons to help healing. hydrocortisone will calm your skin & help with redness. The aloe will definitely speed things up as well. So far I have no scarring with this method, good luck!

If it has healed and it is still white then I would say it probably will always be white. If you want to cover it up this is what I do. The best cover up I have found is called Instant IGIA cover. It is great! Just type it in your web browser. You want be able to find it in stores.

You poor thing! I hope by now it has improved...I had something similar done with the same effect and I was so mad at myself after thinking I did it to myself. Important thing to remember: you didn't mess up! In the future just be really careful about who you let touch your face because as nice as the "promised" results often sound, the reality is that it can go horribly wrong; ask yourself if you are still willing to go through with it if it does? if not, hold off! Good luck and I hope you are recovering well.

You are all pathetic.. talking about during doctors for scarring your faces... You all should have researched the effects. How they work. And what the post care procedures are. You should also know your own skin before you go getting acid on your face... Drs prewarn you of effects and how to care for your skin post peel. Even pre peel... I highly doubt you all had bad Drs apply chemical peels who neglected to tell you this and all just wanted to burn and scar your faces while you slept...who sleeps during a 2-6min process anyway especially for the first time... Y'all blame others before you look at yourselves and I doubt a court would even hear about insecure paranoid people with a bit of redness and white streaks blaming probably qualified Drs or dermatologist who had done the right thing in the first place, during for what? Pffft get a life

Hi Cherine, we want to get rid fast of what´s on our face and keep mistreating it, I know, I´ve done the same. After having burned myself with a glycolic AHA I was perscribed Silver Sulfadiazine to help with the burn. This helps avoid infection and can avoid scarring, however it´s not much of a moisturizer and as soon as there is no infection problem, start hydrating your skin in every way, by this I mean exteriorly and interiorly. In the morning: Wash and hydrate and use sun block; at night: wash, use a toner, hydrate. This hydration at night should be done on alternate days, try to do it the day before you wash your hair. Drink lots of water and I´ve been looking into some natural juices to help.

If you come to know of more solutions write back, I´d like to know. Good luck

Hi Cherine,

I suggest you cetaphil cleanse. Its milder than any other cleanser. You can switch to argan oil or emu oil. Its good for wounds and burns. :-)

I bought the rejuvenize peel and administered it myself. I've had it before at the dermatologist office but thought I coud save some money. Now I have red splotchey spots and my skin is soo tight that it looks wrinkled. Will this heal?
bev2153 9 Sep 2011
Please dont have it done. When I had mine done my husband almost fainted. I looked like a monster until it healed. I had a huge blister which turned into a sore looking scab. Im sure I have pictures somewhere. You would have to see it to believe it. I dont have very many wrinkles but it wasnt worth it.

I am going to call and cancel my chemical peel. You all scared me, and I am really grateful for the information. I know and understand that this does not happen to everyone, but I dont want to take that chance.

There are peels you can perform at home. If beginners, use lower percentage. Glycolic peels and AHA's are the best start..:-)

It's called, easy does it. I use an 18% TCA peel that I ordered online. I first put one application and followed the directions to the T. The next peel I did 2 mths later I left on longer and layered it, 2 applications at once. I looked like crap for a week, but it worked very good. I am using partly antibiotic cream, Vitamin E,A and D oil mixed in with it. It works for me. I wish you all the best of luck. Those of U with scars and redness and some of the other symptom's I've heard described try those oil's. I take them internally as well. Another thing that helps with your skin is consuming pineapple. I was told this from my Dr. and thought, are you kidding! I eat fresh pineapple and I tell ya, it works! Look up what I said and everything that you hear online so that you are sure your doing what's best for your skin. The Alpha Hydroxy after a peel, I was told was a big no,no.... so, just investigate. Best of Luck!!!
