Considering Breast Reduction
By sunshine2011 on 04 Jan 2011
I'm 22yrs old and only 4ft 10, and I have 38DD breasts. My back and shoulders hurt all the time and the more I think about it, the more I think it will benefit my health. I am looking to reduce to a full B. Any thoughts and advice would be much appriciated! Thanks :)

Hi sunshine -- Welcome to RealSelf! Just from what you describe, it sounds like you might qualify. Have you talked to any plastic surgeons yet? You may also be able to get it covered by insurance, depending on your provider.
Hi Frances,
I'm sorry you're having to go through a mastectomy. You might want to consider checking out RealSelf's Breast Reconstruction community.
As far as pain level with the breast reduction goes, I've heard all different things. I think it depends on your pain tolerance, if you stay on top of taking your pain meds, etc. Read through some of the Breast Reduction Reviews. Hopefully they'll give you insight into what the surgery/recovery will be like.
Sunshine,
We are close in size except I was a DDD and about falling over...
See my post for information. But I can tell you that a full B is perfect for me.
The first thing you should do is research doctors in your area and then go for at least three consults. Take your time and do very thorough research on the doctors.
Definitely reducing the size of your breasts will help with any back and neck pain.
Have you looked though the site much? I would be happy to help you with any questions you may have. We have endless resources here on RealSelf and I would love to help you.
Go for it girl!!
