Like ALL businesses, insurance companies are not in the business of losing money but are in it to make money. As such, 1. They do NOT pay for COSMETIC surgery (surgery that improves appearance. Such as Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, Facelift etc) 2. They may or may not help pay for RECONSTRUCTIVE (surgery to get the breast to look like it is supposed to look - not better)depending if your INDIVIDUAL or company's contract with the insurance has such a benefit. Each policy is different and it may not cover everything you think it should.

Hi ebradle2,

From what I've read on RealSelf and what I know about how insurance companies work, I'm pretty sure they will only help cover the cost of breast augmentation in cases where it is NOT a cosmetic surgery, such as breast reconstruction after mastectomy/lumpectomy for breast related illnesses like cancer.

If you're looking to undergo cosmetic breast augmentation that is not covered by insurance, but you can't afford to pay for the surgery up front, you may want to consider a plastic surgery financing loan.
