BR Insurance coverage - private practice surgeon vs. hospital surgeon

By nats114 on 29 Apr 2012

Hi all I am looking to have my BR procedure in July and currently interviewing several surgeons until I feel most comfortable to make a decision. So far, I've only met with private practice surgeons which have both been pretty sure that insurance won't cover it, saying they can only get about 300g out of me. I'm 5'4, 28yrs, 145lbs, 34DD (possibly DDD) My upcoming consultations are with surgeons working within a large, extraordinarily reputable hospital. Do you think, since the hospital functions daily with patients using insurance, that I'm more likely to have a better chance getting a non private practice surgeon to work with the insurance company in an effort to get me covered, whereas private surgeons are less likely to be motivated to get me covered as they make more money from cosmetic/out of pocket procedures performed within their facilities?   Thank you.
