Belly button scar

I'd like to wear a bikini this summer but my scar is still pretty red around my belly button. Did you girls wait till it was completely white to wear a two piece? Any tips on making it less noticeable? The only trick I can think of is to keep it slathered in sunscreen.
Definitely keep sunblock on that belly button for the first year. It does take a while to heal and fade and you do not want the sun on it right now. Slather it up good or keep it covered.
