I had achilles tendon surgery done. The surgeon was quite new and a horrible scar was left. He recommend merderma and other products that didn't work well. I had previously used excel skin care's stretch mark cream which I had good results with. And, yes I took as well had success lightening, shrink and fading the scar. Their cocoa butter is very good. I regularly use two of the other products. The best prices are through their store on amazon.

Silicone is the only topical treatment that has been clinically proven. My doctor recommended Biodermis products (biodermis.com). I used some of their silicone gel sheeting, as well as their Pro-Sil stick, and my scars healed up very nicely. I see this is an old post, but for anyone out their trying the same thing, go with silicone.

Bad option. Stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturised

Hypertrophic scars can be improved with pulsed dye laser and fractional laser for retexturing of the scar.
