I received botox on June 14 2012, I didnt have deep wrinkles just wanted something for my fine lines around my eyes, but RN recommended just a little botox, crows feet and below each eye 10 units altogether, and now im left with bags under my eyes.

Thank you so much, ExploseBSE, for that extremely helpful response. I really appreciate the knowledge you have shared. So was the surgery a blepharoplasty? Could you elaborate a little on what you had done. I am so glad for you that it was covered by insurance. Thank you again.

Thanks so much for coming back and sharing, well I'm praying, since I only had 10 units that my muscles will tighten up with facial exercises, I can say that the skin under my eyes has tightend tremendously from doing my eye exercises, I think I have small festoons. Plus I've lose weight which make them look worse. I'm not sure if surgery is right for me at this point. Since I'm still seeing changes I'm going to wait it out a little longer. But I'm so happy for you!!! Please keep us posted on your recovery.

Thank you so much for your message. How are you doing? I am so sorry you had to go through this. It is shocking that even just a forehead injection could do this to you. I'm glad your dr. was honest with you because I have seen several world-class doctors and they claim that botox could never, ever do this. What kind of surgery did you have? Did they remove skin or just tighten the muscle? I am very, very curious to know that as well as how you are doing. Please hang in there!

You are amazing. You have such a good attitude. I have a strong feeling that you may see better results from your surgery after a month. it takes so long for swelling to subside. Doesn't your dr. say it may be too early to tell? It is good you are taking baby steps and that the surgeon is not being overly aggressive and is trying to remedy the situation with only muscle tightening, rather than skin or fat removal, at first. I don't think you should ever get any fat removed.

I too had bags under my eyes after that I consulted my doctor. He told me that I have to avoid salt and also to take a little massage under my eyes. It really worked and I got improvement in 1 month. So I would recommend you to take a doctor's advice.

Hi, GarryLe, honestly the Dr. I consulted with said that they were fat pads and needed to be removed. That was it and left the room. So I didn't really get to ask him anymore questions. It really upset me that he didn't take the time to listen. I'm not wanting surgery, that would be my only alternative. And then I still probably wouldn't do it. I'm been like this for just over a yr. now. So ima take your advise to stay away from salt. I also started doing the tanaka massage. Only been doing it for two days now. But I'm going to do this thing on my own, with no fillers or surgery. I just purchased a facial excercise program and praying that it helps. I can tell that my muscles and skin under my eyes has been stretched and that's causing alot of the sagging. Thanks alot for your advise. Did you do any kind of facial excercises, or anything thing else that may of helped you see improvement?

I am sorry to say that I honestly do not know how many units of Botox I had but it was not much at all! I never went back and really asked b/c I was so upset. By 6 months, I only felt about 50% healed, so if you are further along than that, I think that's a great sign!

I am so sorry to hear that you are undergoing the same nightmare as I did!! I only had some fine lines and had a little Botox under the eyes, which resulted in eye bags that I honestly never had before. Unfortunately, for me, it took about an entire year for it to get better. During that time, I had good days and bad days, which was frustrating. I am now about 13 months out and it looks so much better but I can still see a small bag, which I never had before the Botox.

I have been through the same thing. I too still have a slight eye bag. I am 6 months out. Do you think the situation could still improve? I am 42. How old are you? I'm wondering if the older one is, the harder it is too heal from this horrible and ridiculous procedure.

I do think that there is hope that it will continue to improve. Sadly, many of us did not see real improvement until the one-year mark, despite the various approaches we tried to get rid of the eye bags. So it does seem that the old cliché, time heals, is applicable in this situation, even though it is extremely frustrating.

So, now, over a year out, do you feel your eyes have healed and are back to what they once were? Many, many thanks for your input.

I would say I am about 90% back to normal; but the skin was stretched so it never recovered to the point of elasticity that it was previously at.

I promise I'll stop peppering you with questions but two last ones: what percentage back to normal did you feel you were at 6 months and how many units of botox did you have? Thank you for giving me some hope.
