Back stiffness and pain 4 days post op

By Djc on 11 Apr 2011

Hi All Any advice - I am going into day 4 post op. My surgery of full tt went really well. double sutured wide separation and flank lipo. I have no pain in muscles or incision really with my low dose of meds. But my back is KILLING from sitting, laying, walking. It is stiff and painful. Any ideas other than the meds, as I am hoping to taper off of those. The pain is so bad at times it freaks me out, as there is only so much moving into different positions i can do at this point. Thanks!

Hi I'm having a Fleur De Lyse TT in Aust and I've been told I will be in hospital for a minimum of 3 days. Do you ladies overseas have this procedure as day surgery and then go home?

I hard my full tummy tuck, muscles tightened and lipo of flanks and love handles on Thursday Nov 8. Even with pain killers Thursday night, Friday and Saturday were unbearable. I notice a large decrease in pain today, although when I go to stand up if feels like there are 4 knives in my back and a lot of pressure in incision area. I still have not had a bm, I take softness with mild laxative everyday but ten again all I have really eaten is small pieces of bagel And yogurt so I do not really feel uncomfortable. I have been tring o consume a lot of liquid beverages. My drains are still in, I have an appointment on Saturday and think they will remove them then. I rented an electric lift chair from rent a center, definitely a smart move. I would suggest anyone having this surgery rent one of these chairs, it really really helps. I am so packed that I have no idea what I look like, but can't wait to see

Im day 3 and using something called Dr HO, it helps but so does rubs with baby powder from my husband, no one warned me either how bad the back pain would be

Hi, post op 5days, my back pain is subsiding. I know it hurts but I would get up and just stand as long as I could and when sitting I would prop pillows behind back top to bottom for good support. Hang in there, this to shall pass and we will have are new tummy and smile.

I actually borrowed a walker... I am only 2 dpo but walking so hunched really knocked the wind out of me and the walker...while not cute... really helped. I dont use it really at home except to lean on when using the bathroom but went to dr today and it was a huge help with that long walk from car to room.... tired even thinking about it!

Call your PS and ask about a muscle relaxer. It may be helpful.

Congrats on TT! I am 3 days post op and I'm with you on the back issues. I have had back problems since 1995, so I have a script for Flexril. Although I want to reduce meds now is not the time. I feel relief from vicodin and flexril. Hang in there! I'm sure we will love the results.

DJC just checking to see how you are doing now??   The back pain should be easing up a bit now.

It all takes time and is a process.   Ice, heat and massage all help.

What about a back brace? I'm not sure though. Double check with your PS to see if that's okay or not. Take Care and happy healing.

This is a really common complaint among women who've recently had a tummy tuck. You might want to try a heating pad or warm pillow. They also have those ThermaCare heat wraps that work on regular back aches.
