Anyone tried Arbonne for Acne?

By skin2love on 28 Jun 2007

Arbonne offers an acne control line called Clear Advantage. I have converted several ProActive people and they like it better.

Arbonne is NOT chemical free. Look at the ingredient list and google the ingredients. If you like it, go ahead and keep using it. I have nothing against Arbonne as a product, but I think it is very wrong the way they portray the product as "safe, chemical free, and all natural".

True. There are parabens, but for good reasons. What I should have said is HARSH chemicals. That does not make it unsafe. Nowhere on their site do they say their products are chemical free and natural. Those are your words. They are for the most part however. It is extremely safe and still better than what competitors are offering, in my opinion. How many other companies are even willing to list their ingredients? Not too many. Arbonne has nothing to hide and is upfront about what they are about.

FYI, all skincare manufacturers are required by the FDA, FTCC, and the Safe Cosmetics and Toiletries Act to list all ingredients of products that will go on, or in the human body. So yes, ALL companies list all their ingredients. In Fact, the laws have become more stringent so that manufacturers are required to use the INCI name of the ingredient, not terms like "essential oils" or "lipids". I agree that for most formulations preservatives are nessecary. However, there are newer, better ways of packaging products, newer, safer preservatives that do not release formaldehyde, and better formulation practices that reduce the need for preservatives. Arbonne uses cheap preservatives and packaging. Problem is you have to pay a little more-but not much for the new technology. Arbonne's products also have an overabundance of fillers and emulsifiers, which I'm not fond of. You may also like to know that glycols and parabens can degrade your active ingredients. Oh- and Propelyne Glycol? Yeah, that's what antifreeze is made of. Guess what happens to pets when they drink it? They die. You want to rub that all over? Okay, I'll calm down. If you love what you use, keep using it. If it works, Great! I am just sad that so many companies misrepresent themselves to consumers the way they do. Arbonne is certainly not the only one-but I get extra upset that Arbonne misrepresents itself to the very people that build it.

HAHAHAHA!! Propylene Glycol is what anti-freeze is made of! With so much information available with few clicks, why would you say something like that? That's not quite a true statment. Look up the info. Stop scaring people!

You know what makes me a little upset...ok a lot. People that pretend to know all, but in reality, they spread crap to further their own agenda. I am fully aware that companies are required to provide the public with an ingredients list. However, some companies do not share the information unless someone asks for it. Arbonne ingredients are readily available for download on their website. I have looked at other websites and there is no list to be found on most of them. Arbonne does not use Propelyne Glycol in their products. They also do not have an overabundance of fillers and emulsifiers as you claim. Arbonne prides itself on using the best ingredients. There is nothing cheap about it. That is why it costs more than drug store brands. So take a breath and calm down. Arbonne has not misrepresented itself to anyone, let alone their consultants. Clearly you are the one who is misinformed. Not only that, but I did not wait for the company to inform me of anything. I did my own research before signing up to be a consultant. You apparently have a problem with Arbonne which is fine. Let me use your words. If you love what you use, keep using it. If it works, Great! If you don't love Arbonne, leave those of us that do alone. Stop spreading your hate. I came on here to give people a healthy alternative to what they were currently using. That's right. I said healthy. I stand behind our products whole-heartedly. This might be an open forum, but I am not open for debate. End of discussion.

Hi, I went to the Arbonne website to look for a list of ingredients. You mentioned that it can be downloaded. I searched around for a while and did not find it. Can you please post a link? Someone approached me about this line and I would like to know what the ingredients are before I decide to buy it or not. Thanks!

God, I hate when people think that facts about beloved products are "agenda-driven." The fact of the matter is that Arbonne uses products with considerably toxicity. End of discussion. End of story.

I use to sell Arbonne, but when I found that they refused to sign The Compact for Safe Cosmetics - I questioned their products, especially since I was promoting them as safe. I started to do more research into the cosmetics industry as a whole. Now I'm a advocate for the Safe Cosmetics Campaign in St. Louis. I've been learning about chemical policy within my state and hope to take a resolution before our state government in the next few months. As a parent you should be concerned with the products you're letting your daughter use. Just because you sell the product, it shouldn't close this discussion - if I were you, I would be more open to further info. Check out Safecosmetics.org and The Skin Deep database to see what chemicals are in your products. One other thing the RE9 Eye Cream does contain Propylene Glycol. Another ingredient Arbonne puts in their products is Quaternium-15. Did you know that Quat-15 is a preservative that works by releasing Formaldehyde? Here's a link to ingredient toxicity information. http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ingredient.php?ingred06=705478&refurl=%2Fwordsearch.php%3Fquery%3DQuaternium-15%26 Also, one other thing a very recent study is showing surprising findings on Methylparaben when it's exposed to UVB sunlight. Here's the link to the study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez Anyway, just wanted to post this and let you know about the research out there. Arbonne isn't going to tell you about it. In fact, when I questioned them, I never received a reply. I've switched to another company now, that I'm happy to say I really researched before starting. It feels good to know I can truly promote them as Pure, Safe, Beneficial - because they're certified organic by the USDA.

What is the new safe product you have switched too?
LoveIt! (unregistered guest) 13 May 2009
I looked up Q-15 and Quaternium-15 on Arbonne's interactive website - you put in an ingredient and it will show you which products it is in. Neither of these searches brought up ANY products, so I'd like to know when you did your research. Arbonne has been reformulating some of its product lines. You might want to check them out. The new FC5 product line tells you in BIG letters right on the box what is NOT in them - like parabens. I also was not happy to see that Arbonne had not signed the Safe Cosmetics compact, but I believe that they will be doing just that. Bnd BTW, most of the products that ARE listed on that website are old, old, old formulations. Arbonne keeps getting better and better. Like it or not.

The company I switched to is ONE Group (Organic & Natural Enterprise), which manufactures the Miessence line of products. The company is based out of Australia and is certified organic with the USDA and ACO, which basically means the products are food grade. I have been very impressed with the products I've used to date and I've seen fantastic changes in my skin and hair. Not that they were in bad condition before, but it's good to know that I'm not taking chances with my health by using products with synthetic chemicals/preservatives. Check out the Safe Cosmetics website and Skin Deep, both are very good informative sites. I love my products, but I'm actually just as thrilled if people switch to products that have been approved by the Safe Cosmetics Campaign. My main concern is for our health and a more sustainable future for our planet.

Regarding the concern about Quaternium-15. Below is something I copied directly from the Arbonne Website where you can go and read about products that are in their products. Again, I think its really easy to take an ingrediant like Q-15 and turn it into a bad thing if you don't read up on the company and fully understand how and how much the ingrediants are used. I used Arbonne and I fully trust that although there is no perfect product I believe they put out the safest products possible. Their products are formulated in switzerland where standards are actually much higher then here in the US. _________________________________________________________________ QUATERNIUM-15 what it is Quaternium-15 is used as an anti-microbial preservative in cosmetic products. why it’s included Preservatives are essential in maintaining the integrity of cosmetic formulations as they help inhibit the growth of yeast, mold and bacteria. the facts When used topically, Quaternium-15 is not absorbed through human skin in significant amounts. While contradictory analytical data surrounds the issue of formaldehyde release by Quaternium-15, the conclusion of the CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Expert Panel) is that this ingredient is safe in cosmetics at concentrations not exceeding those presently in use. for more information Please refer to the following: Cosmetic Ingredient Review Board @ www.cir-safety.org Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association @ www.ctfa.org U.S. Food and Drug Administration @ www.fda.gov

When I asked Arbonne about some of the claims I have read on this website I received a response within 5 minutes. Below, word for word is how the rep responded. _____________________________________________________________________ Dear ****, We appreciate the time you have taken to e-mail us in regards to the website link below, which describes Arbonne products as "unsafe." We do not know why any website would list any Arbonne product ingredients as unsafe, especially considering the lengths that Arbonne goes to, to make sure that all the products are safe for everyone. Unfortunately there is controversial information out there on almost everything, and we can confidently say that not all sources of information are reliable, especially when coming from competitors, and not all studies are conclusive or scientifically based. One can easily use such a source and get caught up in the details of ingredients; therefore it is important for your Client to have confidence not only in the products but also in the company that produces them. When researching this type of information, it is important to use reputable, scientific sources. For More Information please refer to the following Web sites: United States Food and Drug Administration www.fda.gov Cosmetic Ingredient Review Board @ www.cir-safety.org Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association @ www.ctfa. All cosmetic ingredients are tested periodically for safety and effectiveness by industry experts. CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) Board is the one to determine ingredients' safety. The CIR reports its findings to the CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletries, and Fragrance Association). The CIR and CTFA are unbiased and extremely reputable. Unlike the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), they are not government bodies. The CTFA is the watchdog for all manufacturing and cosmetic ingredients. Please be assured that Arbonne will take immediate action on any ingredient that is unsafe in any of its formulations when guided by the FDA, the CTFA and the CIR. In our normal course of business, we continue to research and develop the pure, safe, and beneficial products our Consultants and Clients have enjoyed for more than 27 years. We hope this information is helpful, Daryl- Arbonne Customer Service

Why did Arbonne refuse to sign The Compact for Safe Cosmetics?
lianne (unregistered guest) 20 Apr 2008
I have been pretty happy w Arbonne intelligence kit but even MORE happy with the Collective Well-Being Medicated Acne Treatment Kit available for about 30 dollars off the internet or at a natural market store (although I haven't seen it at a whole foods).

We tried the arbonne which seemed in our case to irritate the skin further. Nothing seemed to be working in fact. Then I found a clay facial mask on the internet and it seems to be doing the trick. Best wishes to you on that!

I have used Arbonne, and find their products to be bland and ineffective. The product that has worked the best for me is pH Advantage Acne treatment. It is very potent, but loaded with hylaronic acid, so it doesnt dry your skin out. Also, it has lots of anti inflamitories. Save your money and get rid of the Arbonne!

okay so i know this is getting heated but here is the thing...marykay was a huge voice against breast cancer awareness trying to make it a LAW to list all ingredients. if everything had to be passed then why would products have road kill, animals that have been put down for various reasons, USED grease from resturants, and more! Americans are slack and thats just the facts. the swiss are far more beautiful when it comes to skin because they take care of themselves and since it's formulated over in switzerland then the product is better. it may have some chemicals but guess what....proactive bleached my best friends pillow case! johnson and johnson uses NUMBING drops in their baby products...the acne line in arbonne didnt even burn my eyes...you can deny arbonne all you want but i know a lady who (one who was making well over 200,000 a year in marykay) came up to an arbonne consultant and ask her to be a model for marykay and when told that that girl was an arbonne consultant her exact words were "thats probably why your skin looks so good" and thats my argument

my 17 yr. old son started using Arbonne on and off a couple weeks ago. Last night he had about three red cyst like pimples on his forehead and I told him he needs to use the products everyday and not off and on. Well, he used them last night and his forehead has gotten four times worse. It's the worst I have ever seen it. Soooo... what am I to think? The ingredients looked wonderful but i have to use commonsense and believe that this severe reaction had to have come from using the cleanser, toner and lotion. He did tell me he is not using a lot of the products when he uses it. \ Any comments?? Thanks, a concerned mom

I've only heard this acne product now. Upon reading the previous comments, the results are disappointing, and I admit, I don't have plans on using this anymore.

My wife wants to get products by arbonne. Is this stuff worth what it costs? It looks like it might be network-marketed, which makes me nervous to begin with. Any tips? http://www.real-acne-treatment.com
Erinc (1 post) 24 Aug 2011

Your wife is able to try the products with a 45 day full money back guarantee. She's more than welcome to email me if she wants any more info about it. **************@*****.com

My Husband tried Arbonne's Clear Advantage line and has had nothing but great results. He had severe acne and nothing else worked this well. He has played with using some of the system but got the best results when using the entire system. It has been worth every penny!! There was a bit of an adjustment period for him for the first week or so but after that it was great!!! Network marketing is simply a distribution system that cuts down on the "middle man" nothing to be afraid of.
