hi teri- i take a pic looking in the mirror (phone facing mirror but so you can see what the pic will look like on the screen) and zoom in (using your thumb and forefinger) to get the size photo i want. hope that makes sense.

At what did anyone were any of you lady's able to start putting shirts over your head? Today was my first day out the house ( besides doing follow up appt) and I put a shirt over my head and did a couple errands and my chest feels hard in areas that was loosing up...
DDane 4 May 2012
Ok that was all over the place... At what point where u able to put a shirt over your head?

It was about two weeks for me.  Not being able to lift the arms over your head does not help the dressing situation.

I just had someone help me pull it over my head. I am trying to just wear the button down stuff for awhile longer. I don't want to mess anything up or hurt myself : )

OK - I have booked an appointment and hopefully it will all happen early in July. I can't tell you all how much difference this site has made - my 60th birthday tomorrow - just a number right? - why am I doing this, is it all worth it, just give up the idea YOU PEOPLE are the ones I need to talk to! You have done it and you know the benefits - it will be worth it, yes be strong!

Thanks for the response Maggie g... My doctor gave me 3 compression bras and when I go back tomorrow I will get another... I'm only one week out so those bras will forever be my friend until I feel comfortable!!! Lol

lol i feel the same way- i feel naked without the bra on (wait...i AM naked without it). seriously, i am wearing the mega bra during the day which is the only way i can work and do stuff because i feel like it's holding everything in place- even after 3 weeks. at night i wear the slightly less restricting one, but still a compression bra. as far as showers go- surgery was on a tuesday and i showered for the first time on thursday and then had my husband wash my hair on saturday. yeah, that first shower was unnerving. it's all uphill from there tho.
DDane 1 May 2012
I'm feel the same way so it's not silly at all...
DDane 1 May 2012
Thanks... I took one today and it was difficult ( yes I'm home alone) I just couldn't do another bird bath!! Lol
Marla2012 1 May 2012
I think it gets easier each time. I know its silly but I feel safer with the bra on. When it is off for a few minutes I feel weird like I might hurt myself or something : )
DDane 1 May 2012
For anyone who has already had their BR how soon after did you take a shower?
Marla2012 1 May 2012
I had my surgery on Monday, went to the Dr on Wed and he said it was ok to shower but I waited until Thursday. The shower felt a lot better on Saturday. Make sure you have someone with you in case you feel woozy.
Double DDs 1 May 2012
I u'd my surgery my doctor said I could shower the next day I waited till Sunday and I thought everyone was exagerating about the passing out or queasy feeling. I had to sit down n my tub while the shower ran b/c I was sure I was going to Pass Out, Die, go into shock or something else dramatic. 10 days later in here so I made it. Just take it easy in the shower by day 10 I'm a pro at it (well not exactly) but I get the job done!
Take care xoxoxo

wow! I didn't realise having a shower would be so bad.
Was it the heat, eg the temp of the water? Or was it sore having water run on your scars/sore boobs?
Is it not having a bra on? What was it that made you woozy?

Well your body has been through a lot. You have had a lot of different medications pumped into your system. It takes several days for all of that to leave your system. The pain meds make you shaky and you just don't have your usual energy. Having the bra off does put pressure on the incisions and it doesn't hurt as much as it just feels really uncomfortable. Make sure you have someone with you for the first shower if you feel unsteady. I actually had a shower seat from awhile ago and that was nice to use. I am 13 days out and I still just want to make it quick and get out. I am sure in a week or two I will be fine in the shower.

DDane 24 Apr 2012
Well ladies everything went well... In some pain but not a lot!!!! The one thing that is bothering me so bad is the numbness and tingles in my left hand, they said its normal because the pressure cup was on that arm and plus how my arms were positioned for 4hrs- I also have just tingles in my right finger tips.. Did anyone else go through this?
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 25 Apr 2012

Hang in there and everything will be better in a few days.   Glad to hear you are home and resting.

Marla2012 24 Apr 2012
Thank you! I am doing great so far. I hope your surgery will be easy for you!
