ALH / ADH or other abnormal tissue found when your BR done?

By Sweet adipose on 14 Mar 2013

Just curious: has anyone had abnormal tissue found when the removed breast tissue was analyzed? At my check, my PS advised that she is referring me to an oncologist for Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia (ALH) - not cancer, but an indicator that I may have higher risk. (Not surprised: cancer rates are high where I live, & that was the deciding factor for me getting BR.) I just want to know if others have had similar diagnoses, too, with their BR.

Yes. I just had a reduction on April 4 and they found ALH and ADH. I went to a medical oncologist and started taking Tamoxifen. There are different risk factors that add up. I'm currently at 54%. A typical woman my age would be at about 11% (I think that's what they said) and bc of different factors, I'm currently at 54%. I'm actually going to see a breast specialist in two weeks as kind of a second opinion. There have been a few times that my MO office has been lagging. Good luck.
