Quite a lot of swelling is still very possible at this stage of your recovery. I would give it more time before getting too concerned. Swollen tissue could also affect how centered your belly button looks. Please keep us updated and consider writing a Tummy Tuck review. There's quite a bit of engagement in that area of the site and you will probably get some good feedback from other women who've been through similar procedures.

my swelling still veries... i found out i had a spitting stitch so im havin that taking care of... ahhhh its been a month today and i hoped i would have been already well enough to start excerzing... but doc says none of that till my spitting stitch heals...

wats a spitting stich? who did your procedure?

ms.ladyleatherneck 24 Apr 2010
I had disolveble stiches but were the ended there was a not to keep in place. My body recognized it as a foreign object and rejected the stitch (not) before it could be disolved so the incision started to open. my Doc went and cut out the stitch and now I am healing... as well as the flanks i thought it was fat left but now that the weeks go buy I can tell it was just my body being swollen, I even thought my belly button was not centered wow... i was glad to see it was all from my body being swollen which to be honest it still is since it only has been 4weeks but im extremely noticing the diference now.

I am at 3.5 weeks post op and was quite concerned about swelling and huge pressure but after 2 manual lymph drainage treatments much improved. It's a relief to see others with same issue. When were you all able to come off pain meds?
Puggymom 16 Dec 2011
Heathpt~ We are all different when it comes to pain meds. I used them for a while as I had a terrible time w/ pain when recovering. If you need them then take them. Don't worry about addiction if you take as directed. I'm 17 weeks now and the most I ever take is an Aleve after a long morning walk. You will see that you rapidly improve. Also, ibuprofen or Aleve are great to take as they help w/ swelling too. Hang in there. You have lots more recovering to do.

Puggymom-thanks for the reassurance. Did you have a big fascial repair as well? How much swelling do you have now?
Puggymom 17 Dec 2011
Heathpt~ Just click on my name to view my blog. I've talked about what I had and what happened extensively. I had a huge incision opening after my extended tummy tuck. I show pics of that also.

Swelling is better now but I do still swell each day. I've been walking for many weeks now up to 4-5 miles 4-5 times a week. I swell after that and by evening but not like in the beginning where you are. It will improve over time.

So early for you still.... I think swelling. I'm 4 months and have a tiny muffin top however I have gained a few pounds. How could I not have, didn't do much cardio for 3 months. :-) There was now way I could excersize like I used to. PS Use a good support when you do excersize it makes you feel better even at 4 months and helps swelling after excersize. I use the Brook Burke one. Best of luck!
