How soon after a tummy tuck did you go back to work? I work 12 hours shifts

I am at the 6 week PostOp mark and could probably head back to work although I am taking a few more weeks off. I am self-employed so I can make that call. I can't imagine going back any sooner especially with 12 hour work shifts. Remember that the tummy tuck journey to recovery starts after you make it to the flat side. It is a long journey to recovery so take off as much time as you can and take care of yourself.

I actually requested a full 5 weeks off work to be 100% sure, I told my boss that if things went better than planned, I would in fact go back earlier. I would rather have more time requested off and not need it than to not have enough and get screwed.. :) Always request more with the option to return early.... I'm fortunate enough to have enough coverage, so that definitely helps too. Good luck to you all!

Dansgirl, I didn't really have a choice...believe me, I didn't feel ready! I worked 12 hrs the second week after surgery then more than forty the week after that and wore myself out and ended up with strep throat! It was ridiculous...I work for a small company though and it was hard to find coverage for more than a week.

I started working a few hours a day from home at 8 dpo, but I don't recommend it! Especially if you work twelve hour shifts, I would take three or four weeks off.

I went back to my desk office job 2 weeks after surgery. I really suggest 3 weeks before returning to work.
