Acne can be treated with Aldactone and birth control pills (generic name: Spironolactone sp?)

Is this a secret that dermatologists don't want to get out? I am 42 and have had acne my whole life. Years ago accutane helped to clear my cystic acne. More recently an endocrinologist (hormone doctor) suggested aldactone and birth control pills. Side note: Finasteride for hair loss.
