What is Accent laser treatment like?

Posted 22 Jan 2008

The spa I go to recommended that I get Accent laser treatments for the cellulite on my thighs and rear-end.  I don't know anything about the Accent laser...what should I expect?  How does the laser work, and is it usually safe?

Accent XL is a thermotherapy laser that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat the dermal layer of the skin, stimulating cells to produce new collagen, release toxins, drain retained fluids, and improve skin surface texture. As a result, fat cells contract and cellulite is smoothed away. Correctly performed Accent laser treatments should be absolutely safe.  The Accent laser directs RF energy to the precise areas of skin targeted for improvement. To date, thousands of patients have successfully undergone treatment without any adverse side effects.  While pain tolerance is subjective, most clients experience little or no discomfort during treatments.  Accent XL treatments have been described as feeling like a “warm massage.” During the procedure, the Accent XL technology warms the tissue just below the skin's inner layer. Depending on the size of the treated area, a treatment may take up to 45 minutes. Routine daily activities may be resumed immediately following treatment. You may notice a slight redness, which typically disappears in less than 24 hours.

You may want to read real patient experiences with Accent XL. Read Accent XL reviews.
