5K run/walk after BR?

By Love_Gardening on 15 Jul 2012

There is a 5K run/walk I really want to enter with a group of friends (called The Color Run).  Google it - looks so much fun!!!  Anyways, I will be 6-7 weeks post op.  I'm really considering signing up!  Even if I have to walk a majority of it, thinking I should probably be okay by then?  What do you ladies think who have already gone thru surgery?  My surgery is August 20th and the run is October 6th.

I love the c25k app! Once the girls are smaller, I might even be able to do a 10k!

If everything goes smoothly, from what everyone says, you should be fine to walk it. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op now and have about 3 more weeks before I can start running again. My PS said that even with my issue, I should be fine to run in a few weeks. I would suggest doing the c25k app if you have an iphone (or similar). I was up to week six before I had to stop for my surgery. It conditions you for the run and is an awesome app.

Flgal77 - I'm planning on walking most if not all of it anyways. Considering I would need to start conditioning myself now (surgery on 8/20), there's no way I'll be in shape to run it. I was worried about even being able to walk a 5k so your post is encouraging! Thank you!

I was training for the color run before my surgery. I asked yesterday when I could start running again and my PS told me 6 weeks post-op probably. But, I've had a complication too, so I may be a little set back. I want to do this run so badly. Good Luck!

You will be fine to do the run!  Make sure to be wearing a good support bra and all will be well.

I was back in the gym 4 weeks post op on a regular workout schedule and was fine.  Felt good actually:)
