I have been considering a breast lift, but am concerned about scarring and loss of sensation in the nipple. Today I found a procedure called the "Semielastic Scarless Serdev Suture Breast Lift". It appears that Dr. Serdev uses sutures to raise and secure the breast. I can't find any doctors who do this in the US. Couple of questions: 1. Does this really work, and is it practiced in the US? 2. How long do the results last? 3. Is the cost on par with traditional breast lift methods??
I agree with the answers posted by Drs. Zweibel and Grenley. Ask the surgeon doing this scarless breast lift if the procedure has been published in any peer-reviewed medical journals (I doubt it). I know of one study currently being carried out by two very accomplished plastic surgeons in this country using barbed suture to perform breast lifts, but they are not yet ready to say that it works, much less publish their results. Unfortunately now more than ever, the old adage "buyer beware" applies to plastic surgery. I applaud you for trying to check this out first.
I have consulted with two board certified plastic surgeons in regards to having full abdominoplasty and breast lift. One surgeon said all I would need is a Benelli lift, the other said I need a full "anchor" lift. Why is there such a discrepancy? And why not a lollipop? After having 6 kids, and breastfeeding all of them, I just want my breasts to be back where they once were, and to stay in my bra when I lean over!! All of this just seems to get more confusing... Please help!
Dear mother of six,
Well, you have hit upon a subject about which there is perhaps the most disagreement in plastic surgery. You say your goal is to have your breasts back to where they were before pregnancy and breast feeding. If you want to avoid implants, then you will need a procedure that reshapes the breast, which the Benelli proceedure does. The rub against pure lifts without implants is that they don't last very long in terms of giving upper pole fullness. If you can accept implants, then I think the Benelli lift with implants will be an excellent choice. I agree with the majority opinion that you don't need a full anchor lift, with or without implants. If you are definitely opposed to having implants, then either a Benelli approach or a "lollipop" approach with internal shaping would be my next choice. You probably need at least one more opinion. Good luck
I decided to get implants a couple years back they took about a year to heal and get into place ( horrific) now that they have settled I'm not satisfied with the results, I would like to get a lift as I hoped for perkier breast. Can I get a breast lift while keeping the same implants? I read on a couple of sites that this is possible but when I asked my Dr ( who doesn't do lifts) he said, "no", I would need to go through the NEW IMPLANT JOB all over again
Unless your implants are way too big (or too small, for that matter), I don't know why you couldn't have a lift without changing out the implants. If your plastic surgeon was trying to achieve a lift by putting in over-sized implants, when you really needed a lift in the first place, then you may want to have smaller implants put in. Without pictures and without knowing the size of your implants, it is difficult to say.
Was this done by a board certified plastic surgeon? I am surprised he doesn't do lifts. I would definitely get another opinion.
