How to Remove Radiesse from Cheeks

I had Radiesse injected in my cheeks 3 years ago.I'm not happy with them anymore, I feel they are a bit artificial. Is there a way to remove them completely or at least partially in a way to decrease the size of my cheeks. I heard there might be many options like injecting cortisone or aspirating them. What about cortisone pills for 1 month, does it reduce the Radiesse? Thanks!

A: Radiesse in Cheeks

Radiesse lasts about 18 months to 2 years-- tops.  By 3 years there is no product left in your cheeks.

Attempting aspiration or using oral steroids would not be helpful.

Can I Get Radiesse Injections to the Mid-cheek Area?

I'm looking to inject Radiesse to all the areas of my cheeks, including the buccal area. Is Radiesse used in those areas?

A: Radiesse is a terrific filler for cheeks

Radiesse is an excellent filler for the cheeks.

Also, it lasts longer than the hyaluronic acid fillers  (Juvederm and Restylane).

In general, though, most experts feel Radiesse is not the best choice for the lower eyelid / cheek junction  ("tear trough").

Unevenness After Radiesse to Jowl Line

I had Radiesse injections into jowl line last year and it worked fine. Did it again a day and a half ago and now one jowl is very noticeably larger than the other. It looks as though I went to the dentist and had work done on one side of my mouth. The doc isn't open until Monday. Is the Radiesse still pliable enough that I could possibly move it around myself? How can I tell if this is just swelling on one side, OR if it is too much product? Annonymous

A: irregularities after radiesse injections

The asymmetry to your jawline could be product, inflammation, or hematoma.  At your stage, there is difficulty discerning which one, unless of course you are showing asymmetry to an overlying bruise.  I would agree with the others that you should voice your concerns to the physicians office, where they can see you or at least create a plan to address your concern.  I would not massage at this point, since it is not likely to be valuable to disperse filler now.  Light, superficial massage can be used to try to move swelling out of the area, so that is possible without influencing the deeper filler.  Otherwise I suspect it's just asymmetric swelling that would resolve within the week.
