can a Dr who had Maxillofacial training with costmetics training do lower face lifts just as good as a plastic surgeon?. 'm looking for a lower lift and the Dr. said he could do but he is not a plastic surgeon. Please Advise
A facelift is a very important choice for you . Although a maxillofacial surgeon may undertake a facelift he/she would be working outside of his "scope of practise." This means that his residency training was in an area other than plastic surgery, and his preparation for this type of work will be of less than standard. Make sure your plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
when my face is in a neutral positionI have baggy cheeks that looks saggy from nose down. When I smile my cheeks lift up and i then have a heart shaped face but when in neutral position it is more like a square it looks like I have more cheeks on my lower face than on my cheek bones but I cannot say I have flat cheekbones either.what is the best solution to treat that? I have tried fat injections before which helped with the cheek enhancement around the bone, is a mid face lift solution for me?
Thanks for including the photos in your question. Because what I see is a young looking beautiful woman with great features. I get hordes of women coming to see me for filler injections in their lips so that they can get them to look like yours. You have a very natural appearance to your nose and a beautiful smile. I see no evidence of aging such as jowls or wrinkles. If I were in your shoes I would be thankful for all the great things you have going and save your money.
The pictures make the results look pretty similar. What are the differences in operation?
I don't quibble about the names but these should be the same operations. They essentially achieve the following results:
Correction of fat in the neck under the chin
Elimination of Granny Bands or the vertical lines from the chin to the chest
Tightening of the skin so that the jawline is smooth
Elimination of jowl lines and lower marionette lines.
The incisions are similar to that of a facelift and will involve scars behind the ears.
The surgeon should show you how much can be corrected with this technique and describe what your recovery time will be. it is usually shorter than the recovery from a full facelift
