Technique Comparisons For Fat Transfer for Face (photo)

Besides expertise of doctor, importan: 1. how to harvest fat to have greatest number of live fat cells (stem cells. using new 'Body jet', 'Aqua Lipo' techniques or older technique by hand with a syringe? 2. how fat is injected in face for fat-stem cells to remain alive -using live fat tissue, FAMI fat-muscle injection or standard fat injection -under skin? of all failed attempts and disasterous results. which of above methods have best results and less detrimental.

A: fat grafting technique

The principles of successful fat grafting are:

  1. Use a healthy supply of donor fat
  2. Extract the fat gently
  3. Inject the fat in small amounts in multiple locations
  4. Over-correct by a moderate amount
  5. Avoid excessive movement or manipulation of the injected areas

I Had Lipo with Fat Transfer to Hips 1 Wk Ago. Way Too Much Volume. How Do I Kill Some Fat Cells?

7 Days ago, I had lipo done on inner thighs, banana roll, arms, tummy, PLUS fat transfer to outer thighs/hips to fill in an overzealous lipo from 3 years ago. Went in at 127 pounds, and am 135 and rising, 7 days later. Swelling + over correction = WAY too much volume on my outer thighs. How do I decrease swelling/fluid retention? How do I kill some fat cells as well? Thank you, Nervous in DC

A: 7 days post fat grafting

7 days post surgery is still very early for you to judge the results of your surgery - be patient and follow up with your surgeon.  You most likely have swelling and fluid retention.

Can Fat Grafting in the Cheekbones Be Absorbed in the Lower Cheeks? (photo)

I had a relatively thin face before recieving fat grafting in my cheekbones to help tighten my skin from a 100lb+ weightloss. But, ever since...it has made my entire face fat, even though I have lost 20 more pounds since getting the procedure. Could the fat have been absorbed by my body in the wrong places, like my cheeks and jaw? Or do you think the surgeon added it to those places without informing me? Anything I can do besides removing my buccal fat pads? It's been 5 months post-op.

A: Excess grafted fat in the lower cheek

If the excess fat in the lower cheek (submalar area) persists you can attempt the following:

  1. Steroid injections
  2. Smart Lipo
  3. Buccal fat removal
  4. Additional fat injections higher up over cheekbones
