i had a liopscution in May and planning to do thigh lift as i have saggin in the inner thigh and little sagging from outer thigh. i heard is vertical scar is bad as it's get wide and it's visiable as the horizontal scar which will be in the bikini area so it's not visiable and usually its good scar. so what would you recommend ? and also am planning to do tatto on the scar. so how long i need to wait to get the tatto on the scar ?
In general I rely on horizontal incisions and I avoid vertical incisions when doing thigh lifts. This usually gives a better cosmetic outcome while adequately addressing loose skin.
I am a very fit 49-year old with very loose inner thigh skin from previous lipo (and some loose frontal thigh skin from age and long-ago weight loss) who has been thinking of inner thigh lift surgery for a long time. This scares me more than other plastic surgery procedures however - the downtime, the scarring, etc. Is there anyone who has had a good outcome from this surgery, What are the possible complications vs advantages? Also, can any plastic surgeon do this surgery or just a specialist?
Thigh lifts are effective operations to remove the excess skin of the inner thigh. The outer thigh generally needs a lower body lift or a posterior body lift to address the redundancy. The most common complications of this group of surgeries are small wound separations. It is rare to have a major separation. Other complications include fluid formation under the skin and fat, bleeding, infection, loss of blood supply to the skin and poor scarring. Medial thigh lift scars can also migrate downwards and cause distortion of the vagina. This is an ominous complication that is generally due to lack of experience of the surgeon. In general only surgeons who specialize in massive weight loss body contouring should attempt these complex operations.
I don't believe I worded my last question correctly. I did develop cellulitis and was put on stronger antibiotics two weeks ago which helped tremendously. Now, 3 weeks after surgery I still have a lot of tenderness on my inner thighs as well as a lot of tightness.
Swelling has gone down, but not completely gone. Saw doctor, he said to try to walk as much as possible and then come back and see him in a month. All he can figure out at this point is perhaps slow recovery time. Thank you
Thigh lifts can cause prolonged swelling even without post operative cellulitis. Sometimes I will patients a diuretic to help the swelling if they really have a lot of discomfort. Also, I hope your doctor has a high awareness on post operative blood clotting. That can occur after thigh lift and can be tricky to diagnose clinically. Make sure you see your doctor on a regular basis until you are all healed up.
