How Does Weight Gain Affect the Results of SmartLipo MPX?

Now I'm strictly determined to loose the weight I gained before my upcoming smart lipo mpx in November 2011. Will the weight I gained affect the outcome results of the smart lipo mpx procedure? Will it make my abdomen and love handles look less flat and slim? I greatly appreciate your answers! Thank you!

A: Weight gain before liposuction can ruin your elasticity and the lipo results too

It is very important to understand that the best liposuction results come in those patients with the best skin elasticity regardless of the liposuction technique employed.  Laser lipo doesn't make poorly elastic skin shrink any better than traditional liposuction.  So if the weight gain you have had is enough to effect your elasticity, liposuction may not be the answer for you.

Smart Lipo Vs. Smart Lipo MPX

I'm lost. I want to do smart lipo but I want to know if the difference between smart lipo and smart lipo MPX is that great. If I want to get MPX then I'd have to travel four hours to Seattle. Is the difference worth it?

A: Smartlipo MPX and Triplex are improved versions

Dear Yasmine, I had the same question and spent nine months researching the differences between traditional lipo and Smartlipo, Slimlipo, Prolipo, Lipolite…etc. When I initially evaluated Smartlipo, I considered it a gimmick. However, since it was launched in 2006, the technology has evolved and the newer versions (MPX and Triplex) are legitimate skin smoothing and skin tightening tools. The data supporting skin tightening have been emerging over the past two years (example: Dibernardo BE et al. Evaluation of skin tightening after laser-assisted liposuction. Aesthetic Surgery Journal. 2009 Sep-Oct;29(5):400-7). The data demonstrating the superior safety of tumescent technique versus traditional (general anesthesia) liposuction are abundant.
The laser is not a magic wand, it is a tool used to optimize the procedure. Your outcome ultimately depends on the nature of your skin in the proposed area of treatment, talents of your physician, and post-procedure care.

Smart Lipo MPX Results Got Worse After 2 Weeks

I had MPX Smart Lipo done 2 weeks ago on stomach and flanks. A week ago I looked great stomach was super flat, flanks were perfect. But, now in week 2 I look bigger and my stomach is super hard around my belly button. my flanks look fat. I am still wearing my garments and I do my massages 5 to 10 mins twice a day. Am I just being paranoid or am i just now swelling or is there a bigger problem?

A: Swelling is normal after Smartlipo

Lovefo,

You are not paranoid, your concerns are reasonable. You are experiencing the normal evolution of healing phases after Smartlipo: During the first phase (few days to week) everything looks great; during the second phase (several weeks) there may be hardening and swelling; and during the third phase, the swelling resolves, the skin becomes smoother and more tone, and the results resemble the initial phase. So eat appropriately, and trust that your final result will look great.
