Is Graft Removal Hard and Can it be Done with Local Anesthesia??

my grafts from rib grafts were sutured in my nose... would it be "Easy" or hard to remove it? could it be gone local anesthesia? can it be done opened or closeD?

A: Rib graft removal should be done under general anesthesia

It is very difficult to go in and remove rib grafts from the nose since they get tissue ingrowth and are solidified with the healing process inside the nose.  This cannot be done under local anesthesia.  It can be done through a closed rhinoplasty technique under general anesthesia and since it is a revision, it is always more difficult than the primary rhinoplasty.

Is it Difficult to Remove/Trim a Rhinoplasty Graft?

I had revision rhino with rib grafts.. now i think my nose is too large... so would it be "Easy" to remove/trim the grafts? can it be done under local? or is it a difficult procedure to trim/remove to modify the nose and make it smaller? how complex is graft trimming/removal (rib grafts)

A: Remove/trim rib graft from revision rhinoplasty is difficult.

Removing and trimming a rib graft through a tertiary rhinoplasty is no easy feat.  It is extremely complicated and must be done under general anesthesia, not local anesthesia.  Rib grafts tend to get tissue ingrowth making them difficult to remove, which is why it requires a major revision rhinoplasty.

Unhappy Rhinoplasty Results, What Do You Suggest For a Revision?

im an aussie boy whos had 2 extremely bad rhinoplasty done. In one of the operations ive had in 2000 i had a septoplasty, rhinoplasty & an SMD and in the other ive had a open rhinoplasty in 2005.I have a hanging columella which is heart breaking. What is required to fix the problem? what are the risks? what would be a rough cost? I am more then willing to travel to America to have this done

A: Repairing hanging columella with revision rhinoplasty

There are a few causes of a hanging columella, especially after having prior rhinoplasty surgery.  It's hard to say what would be the best way to address your concerns without seeing photos of your nose but either repositioning the columellar position upward or addressing alar retraction are common steps that need to be done.

Revision rhinoplasty costs (including anesthesia and operating room fees) varying quite a bit depending on how extensive surgery is. In my area it usually ranges from about $7,000-12,000 total.
