Are you a patient of Karen Vaniver, MD?
Dr. V did immediate reconstruction during my bilateral mastectomy in August 2010. I had expanders, then implants were placed in April 2011. Dr. V has done a great job! I am very happy with the results and very happy with Dr. V's caring and skill. She is very responsive when I have questions, and explains everything!
After learning I had Stage 1 breast cancer, one of the meetings my husband and I had was with Dr. V. From the beginning, she was comforting, informative, assuring and genuinely caring in her time and explanations of her role in my journey. I had a unilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction by Dr. V. Her work was fabulous. Due to several treatment difficulties, Dr V was unable to complete my reconstruction with the first expander. I recently had a second surgery to replace the expander that had broken down from being in so long. Dr. V somehow improved on her earlier work and I am now looking forward to even more fabulous results. Dr V not only has done excellent work, but has helped me grow through her words of encouragement and kind, caring ways. I strongly encourage any woman dealing with the difficult decisions dealing with breast cancer to seek out Dr. Vaniver. You will not regret the choice.
After my surgery she in check on me, and made sure I was treated very good. Asked if I had any questions, and answer them all. Great care and after the surgery she has this special serum you apply to get rid of scar tissue, so cool. ( it really works) Her staff treated me like I was family and I felt so welcome to be there. Waiting times was so prompt. I will use her again in the future and I tell my friends how Great of a Job She does!!!!!!
The doctor is amazing and her office manager Danielle is professional and knowledgeable.
Dr. Vaniver is everything I wanted in a doctor. For me it was really important that she's an artist. From what I've read of her she has faced all of the uncertainties that come with the scenarios she treats and then some. She's motivated by her own experience and has a genuine intention. She doesn't sugar coat anything and she never tried to convince me of anything. I knew before my consultation was over that she was the one I'd pick. I knew on an unwavering level that I was in good hands. It's been just over 2 wks and I'm so free and relieved!! She made them look beautiful and natural. Not to mention the fact that I have a tattoo that circles around the breast. After cutting out what she needed to, she actually connected the two sides to meet perfectly. I told her I didn't care about the tattoo and she still went the extra mile. I measure now at a 34B. With the implants I was a 34DD and before the implants I wore an A cup molded bra without filling it. I Was told I had the tissue of a B cup size. I was a level 3 in sagging. I hope this information is helpful. I'm healing well. I'm using her homemade serum and I can tell that the scars will fade quickly. I'll never regret being explanted. I'd recommend Dr. Vaniver to anyone who's thinking about it. This is the quote that makes me think of her. "She who works with her hands is a laborer. She who works with her hands and her head is a craftsman. She who works with her hands and her head and her heart is an artist.”
Dr. Vaniver is a very caring and conscientious doctor. She seems to care very much about what you want and what is best for you. She does not have an ego involved. I always felt I was in good hands with Dr. Vaniver. She takes her time and is very kind.
My doctor was really wonderful in every way! There was no judgment and it was such a good experience. I felt thoroughly cared for and safe. I would definitely recommend Dr. Vaniver.
I had been diagnosed out of nowhere! Once I knew what I had to do - I wanted doctors who could empathize! Dr. Karen had "been there"! With Dr. V, I had to have several procedures - infections set in and I proliferated with scar tissue - some blame doctors. It was just my bod & Dr. V understood!
I asked Dr Vaniver more questions than she was accustomed to. In the beginning I think she thought I was questioning her expertise. In the end she understood that all I wanted was to understand all the steps and be able to visualize everything. Since I am an architect she explained things in a way that made sense to me, as building blocks. She gave me a hug at our first visit. I thought this was a bit unusual but also great and comforting. Right before the surgery I got another hug. I have had two follow up appointments. Dr Vaniver is very pleased with the results and so am I.
Dr. Vaniver was very gracious, and down to earth. She has a heart for her patients and that comes through just in the first meeting. She speaks frankly and offers the options based on her knowledge and experience. She also offers her best advise which was greatly appreciated, as then I could see we were of like minds as to how to proceed in solving my 39 yr old problems. :-)
